TROUBLESHOOTING STEP

STEP 1: Check the fuel shutoff solenoid valve solenoid.


STEP 1A: Check for extra wires on the fuel shutoff valve solenoid post.
Condition:
• Turn keyswitch OFF.
• Disconnect the engine harness from the engine speed sensor.

Action Specification/Repair Next Step

Check for extra wires on the fuel shutoff solenoid Extra wires attached to the solenoid post? 4A

Refer to the circuit diagram for more details. Repair:
Remove the extra wires, and connect the
removed wires to a proper 24-VDC supply.

STEP 1B: Clean the solenoid posts and the wiring terminal.
Condition:
• Turn keyswitch OFF.
• Disconnect the fuel shutoff control wire to the fuel shutoff valve solenoid.

Clean the solenoid post and the wiring terminal. Solenoid posts clean? 4A
• Clean the posts of the fuel shutoff valve YES
solenoid and the terminal for the fuel shutoff

STEP 1C: Check the supply voltage at the fuel shutoff valve solenoid.
Condition:
• Disconnect the engine harness from the fuel shutoff valve solenoid.
• Turn keyswitch ON.
• Crank engine.

STEP 1D: Check the fuel shutoff solenoid resistance.


Condition:
• Turn keyswitch OFF.
• Disconnect the engine harness from the fuel shutoff valve solenoid.

Check the fuel shutoff solenoid resistance. 24 t0 50 ohms? 2A


• Measure the resistance from the fuel shutoff YES
solenoid supply post to the fuel shutoff
solenoid ground post.

STEP 2: Check the engine harness.


STEP 2A: Inspect the engine harness and the extension harness connector pins.
Condition:
• Turn keyswitch OFF.

Condition:
• Turn keyswitch OFF.
• Disconnect the the engine harness from the fuel shutoff valve solenoid.

Condition:
• Turn keyswitch OFF.
• Disconnect the engine harness from the fuel shutoff valve solenoid.
• Disconnect the engine harness from all sensors that have a shared supply or return with the fuel shutoff valve
solenoid.

Action Specification/Repair Next Step

Check for a short circuit from pin-to-pin. Greater than 100k ohms? 3A
• Measure the resistance from the fuel shutoff YES
valve RETURN pin on the engine harness
inline connector to all other pins in the engine

STEP 3: Clear the fault codes.


STEP 3A: Disable the fault code.
Condition:
• Connect all components.
• Turn keyswitch ON.
• Connect INSITE™ electronic service tool.
