Project Purpose or Justification:
With the substantial increase in the demand for air services, Jizan was unable to meet the needful. In
order to stay relevant in the ever growing and fast paced changing environment, a new well organized
and advanced technology equipped international standard airport is very much needed. This will help the
country to improve its current economic position & promote tourism (Abha some 200 km from Jizan) and
make a larger impact on world economy.
Project Description:
Project comprises of:
1. Multiple Roads, Taxi ways and Runways.
2. Administrative Buildings.
3. Two-floor underground parking lot with 600 spaces.
4. Terminal Building with International & Domestic lounge.
5. Control Tower Building.
6. Cargo Building.
Project and Product Requirements:
Jazan needs a world class new airport which is able to handle 5 million passengers annually by the year
2022 and over 8 million by 2030. This new airport should also be able to handle the cargo operations
and also the expected growth which is expected. The new airport should also be connected with modern
modes of transport like train and highways.
Acceptance Criteria:
All the operational systems concerning passenger should be migrated from the Jizan airport without any
disturbance in service. The airport should be ready to handle cargo operations from day one. The Airport
express and highways should be ready before the commercial airport operation commences.

Budget Management and Variance:
Budget should be managed in such a way that it does not surpass the allocated amount within given

Technical Decisions:
Project Manager will consult the design team for any technical issues which will beyond his limits.
Conflict Resolution:
Project Managers and Project team members who manage conflict in a timely manner have a positive
impact on project success by arranging fortnightly or weekly meetings.
Escalation Path for Authority Limitations:
If a certain project stakeholder is not willing to or is not able to do a certain activity he or she is
responsible for, it is necessary for Project Manager to escalate the issue to the Project Director for
resolution.
