GREATER NOIDA
Subject - Math (Class – IX)
Work sheet No. – 3
Chapter- co-ordinate Geometry
Date of submission- 21 june 2022

1. Find distances of following points from the y-axis:

(4,5), (5,-4), (-4,-5), (-5,4)
2. Find distances of following points from the x-axis:
(2,3), (-3,2), (2,-3), (-3,-2)

3. Write co-ordinates of two points on x-axis and two points on y-axis which are at equal
distances from the origin.
4. A point lies on x-axis at a distance of 5 units from y-axis. What are its co-ordinates?
What will be its co-ordinates, if it lies on y-axis at a distance of -5 units from x-axis?
5. Plot three points A(4,0),B(0,-4) and C(-4,0) on the co-ordinate plane. Now, plot point D
so that ABCD is a rhombus. Give coordinates of the point D.
6. Write co-ordinates of the point which is the reflection of (3,5) in y-axis. Then, write co-
ordinates of the point which is the reflection of this point in x-axis.
7. In which quadrant will the point lie, if
(i) the ordinate is 2 and the abscissa is -3 ?
(ii) the abscissa is -4 and the ordinate is -2?
(iii) the ordinate is 3 and the abscissa is 4 ?
(iv) the ordinate is 3 and the abscissa is -2 ?
8. Plot the points A(0,3) and B(6,0) in the Cartesian plane. Is OAB a triangle? If yes, find
area of ∆OAB.
9. Plot two points P(0,4) and Q (-6,0) on the graph paper. Now, plot point R so that OQRP
is a rectangle . Draw diagonals and write the coordinates of the point of intersection of
the diagonals.
10. ABCD is rectangle. The co-ordinates of two vertices A and C are (2,3) and (7,7). Find
the co-ordinates of the remaining vertices.
11. In the given Figure, co-ordinates of A are (4,0) and AB=5 unit. Find the co-ordinates of
B.

12. Plot three points A(-1,6),B(-1,0) and C(7,0) on the graph paper. Now, plot point D so
that ABCD is a rectangle. Draw its diagonals. Write the co-ordinates of point of
intersection of diagonals.
13. Draw a trapezium ABCD in which vertices A,B,C and D are (4,6),(-2,3),(-2,-3) and (4,-7)
respectively.
14. Let ABC be an equilateral triangle in which co-ordinates of B and C are (5,0) and (-5,0)
respectively. Find the co-ordinates of the point A.
