1 Purpose
This document describes the required firmware update sequences from one version to another version.

2 Scope
L4 Support.

3 Preconditions
Engineering PC being used for firmware update must be in the same subnet as targeted REB500.
REB500 user name and password are required.

4 Firmware Update Sequences

4.1 Setup

4.1.1 Update over the REB500 internal process bus

This setup is useful if all devices (bay units and central units) has to be updated.
By default the REB500 internal process bus is configured to the subnet 192.168.175.xxx.

The following IP addresses are reserved:

IP Changes
192.168.175.1 Central unit CIM
192.168.175.2 Central unit CPC
192.168.175.3 - AFS677 Switches
192.168.175.5
192.168.175.11 - Bay units
192.168.175.72

Use the following Network settings on the Service Laptop:

IP address: 192.168.175.100
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: . . .

Connect the Ethernet cable to an electrical port of the AFS677 switch.

This setup is useful if individual devices (bay units and central units) has to be updated.
By default the REB500 front interface is configured with IP address 192.168.0.1. In this case the DHCP
service is active on the device.

4.1.2.1 CPC and BU

Use the following Network settings on the Service Laptop:

· obtain an IP address automatically

Connect the Ethernet cable to the front service interface if a local HMI is available or to the X0 on the rear
side of the bay unit

4.1.2.2 CIM

Use a free IP address of the station bus.

Connect the Ethernet cable to the X1001 on the rear side of the central unit. An electrical to optic Ethernet
converter or a switch with electric and optic connection is required.

4.2 Procedure

4.2.1 REBSYS.8.10.xx.yyy to REBSYS.8.2.0.0.xxx

Start command line application REB500fwu_8.2.000.xxx.exe
After several seconds following context menu shall appear:

Select firmware update option:

1) One IED update - press: 1
2) All IEDs update - press: 2

Follow the context dialog and in each step provide requested information.
After few minutes update shall be done, total update time will be displayed and the final dialog will follow:

Restart updated REB500 system.

Report all updated IED’s (CU and BU’s) at SA-T Supportline see 4.2.1.1

4.2.1.1 Update OAA Database

Please note that it is extremely important that you will report back to us via SA-T Supportline when the
update of the concerned IEDs has been completed. This information is needed to keep our product
register updated and ensure right information to right local ABB units also in the future.

Please attach the generated file “%path%/PTRC_Data.csv” to the mail.

Start command line application REB500fwu_8.10.000.xxx.exe

register updated and ensure right information to right local ABB units also in the future.

Please state the serial number of the IED’s (CU and BU’s) which has been updated in the mail.
