17. Solve: 2x + 3y = 11
2x – 4y = -24
Ans: 2 + 3 = 11 (1)
2 − 4 = −24 (2)
Equation (2) ⟹ 2 = 4 − 24 ⟹ = 2 − 12 (3)
Substituting the value of in (1) we get,
2(2 − 12 ) + 3 = 11
4 − 24 + 3 = 11
7 = 11 + 24
7 = 35

x4 - x3 + x2
x3 - 4x2 + 4x
x3 - x2 + x

Ans: x2 + 7x + 10 = x2 + 5x + 2x + 10
= x (x + 5) +2 (x + 5)
= (x + 2) (x + 5)
∴ If x = -2 or x = -5 then the values of x2 + 7x + 10 is equal to zero
Therefore -2 and -5 are the zeros of the Polynomial x2 + 7x + 10
Sum of the zeros = (-2) + (-5) = -7 = =

37. “In an right angled triangle, the square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the square of the other
two sides. PROVE
Data: In ⊿ABC , ∠B = 900
To prove: AC2 = AB2 + BC2
Construction: Draw BD⟘AC
Proof: ∆ADB ~ ∆ABC ( ∵ Theorem 2.7)
∴ = ( ∵ Corressponding sides)
or AD.AC = AB2 --------------- (1)
But ∆BDC ~ ∆ABC ( ∵ Theorem 2.7)
∴ =
or CD.AC = BC2 ------------------------- (2)
By adding (1) and (2),
AD.AC + CD.AC = AB2 + BC2
⇒ AC (AD+CD) = AB2 + BC2
⇒ AC × AC = AB2 + BC2
⇒ AC2 = AB2 + BC2

SSLC State Level Preparatory Examination 2019 Mathematics Key Answer February 26, 2019
39 Height 1.5meter boy is standing at some distance from a 30meter tall building. The angle of elevation
from his eyes to the top of the building increases from 300 to 600 as he walks towards the building.
Find the distance he walked towards the building.
Ans: The angle of elevation when the boy is at the point M 30° and The distance he walked towards
the building x’ m
After waking x’ m , he stands at the point N
The angle of elevation at the point N is 60°
∴ MN = AB = x.
Height of the building = OC = 30 m
CD = OC - OD = (30 - 1.5) = 28.5 m
According to question, In ΔADC ,
tan 30° =
.
⇒ =
√
⇒ AD = 28.5√3 m
In Right angle triangle ΔCBD,
tan 60° =
.
⇒ √3 =
.
⇒ BD = = 9.5√3 m
√
∴ MN = AB = x = (28.5√3 - 9.5√3 ) = 19√3 m
∴The distance walked towards the building = 19√3 m
40. The sum of first 8 terms of an AP is 100 and sum of first 19 terms is 551. Find AP.
Ans: S8 = 100 [ Sn = ⇒ [2a + (n-1)d]
⇒ [2a + (8-1)d] = 100
⇒ 4[2a + 7d] = 100
⇒ 2a + 7d = 25 ------------------ (1)
S19 = 551
⇒ [2a + (19-1)d] = 551
⇒ 19[a + 9d] = 551
⇒ a + 9d = 29 --------------------- (2)
Multiply eqn (2) by 2
⇒ 2a + 18d = 58 ------------------ (3)

SSLC State Level Preparatory Examination 2019 Mathematics Key Answer February 26, 2019
Substract (1) from (3)
2a + 18d = 58
2a + 7d = 25
11d = 33 ⇒ d = 3
Substitute d = 3 in (1), we get,
2a + 7(3) = 25 ⇒ 2a = 25 – 21 = 4 ⇒ a = 2
Therefore AP: 2 ,5, 8, 11 -------
Or
The third term of an A.P. is 8 and the Ninth term of an A.P. exceeds three times the third term by 2.
Find the sum of first 19 terms.
Ans: a3 = 8
⇒ a + 2d = 8 ------------------ (1)
a9 = 3 x a3 + 2
⇒ a + 8d = 3 x 8 + 2
⇒ a + 8d = 26 ------------------(2)
Equation (1) – (2)
a + 2d = 8
a + 8d = 26
- 6d = - 18 ⇒ d = 3
Substitute d = 3 in (1) we get,
a + 2(3) = 8 ⇒ a = 8 – 6 ⇒ a = 2
Sn = [2a + (n-1)d]
S19 = [2(2) + (19-1)3]
S19 = [4 + 18x3]
S19 = [4 + 54]
S19 = [58]
S19 = 19[29]
S19 = 551
