How to Join Windows Computer to Ahadu.com Domain
Controller Step by Step Guide
Notice: All information’s stated in here are confidential to IT and it is prohibited
to transfer in any form to third party without written or oral consent from
authorized personnel.

KEEP IN MIND
 Windows Server Active Directory 2019 is already configured under the IP
10.1.11.130 and user account is already configured in Active Directory
Domain Services with appropriate password.
 DNS server settings will be configured in the network settings with IP
address of 10.1.11.130.

1. Configure appropriate DNS settings (Note: Primary DNS must be


10.1.11.130). You are required to put the secondary DNS (8.8.8.8) if only the
computer is allowed to get internet access, otherwise leave it empty.

2. Right click on ‘This PC’ my computer icon and select ‘Properties’

3. You can select either ‘Advanced System Settings’ or ‘Change Settings’ to proceed

4. In the ‘System Properties’ dialog box, select ‘Computer Name’ tab and press
‘Change’

5. Enter the domain name Ahadu.com and click ‘OK’

6. Provide the credentials of domain user that has permission to add a computer
to the domain (the domain name is displayed in the bottom)

7. Press ‘OK’ to proceed from the welcome screen to the new Ahadu.com
domain screen and the computer should be restarted to complete the domain
join process.

Sometimes you will get an error that the computer cannot contact windows
active directory. In such case, remove all other secondary DNS’s and put only
10.1.11.130 as primary DNS and try again. When it is successful, don’t forget
to add secondary DNS if the computer is allowed to get internet access.

8. Close the ‘System Properties’ dialog box.

9. Restart the computer.

10. Sign in using the user credentials of the Ahadu.com domain user.

You are required to change the name of the user and the computer name as
per the standard stated in computer and user naming convention for branches
section, found on page 7.

11. The computer is added to the domain

ALTERNATIVE METHOD

1. Select ‘settings’ from start menu
2. Choose ‘System’
3. Select ‘Join a domain’ from ‘about’ section
4. Enter the domain name Ahadu.com and click next
5. Provide the user credentials of the user that has permission to add a computer
to the Ahadu.com domain
6. Add the account of the user who is going to use the computer
7. Restart the computer to complete the domain join process

COMPUTER NAMING CONVENSTION FOR BRANCHS

Use the following pattern to name workstations located at branches. User name of the
workstations is also changed as shown below:

UNJOIN COMPUTER FROM DOMAIN AHADU.COM

Remember, in case when you want un-join the computer from the domain, don’t use local
administrator of the computer, since all the information will not be cleared out from the
active directory list. So use active directory user who have the privilege of doing so.

1. Go to system and select either ‘Advanced System Settings’ or ‘Change


Settings’ to proceed
2. Select ‘Change’ to proceed
3. Delete the domain name and provide appropriate ‘Workgroup’ name
4. Provide the domain user credential that has permission to remove the
computer from domain
5. Press ‘OK’ to leave from domain
6. Press ‘OK’ to proceed from welcome to ‘workgroup’ dialog box
7. restart the machine to remove the computer from domain
8. Close the ‘System Properties’ dialog box
9. Press ‘Restart Now’

KEYBOARD LAYOUT FOR ALL COMPUTER MUST BE ENGLISH [UNITED


STATES]

The QWERTY keyboard layout has been the standard for all Ahadu bank
computer users. The primary disadvantage of using different keyboard layout
especially for IT support users are physical letters stamped on each keyboard
may not match the letter that they type.

Step to Change Windows 10 Keyboard Setting to English [English United State]

1.  Launch your computer’s Settings menu; use the Windows key + I


keyboard shortcut.
2. Tap and select Time & language.
3. On the time and language page, tap the Region & Language section
4. Click on your PC’s default language under the Languages section.

5. Select Options from the expanded menu.
6. On the new Language options page, tap the ‘Add a keyboard’ option.
7. Scroll to the top of the pop-up menu and select US (QWERTY).
8. That adds the US language to the supported language of your keyboard.
The next step is to remove the old/former language.
9. Back to the Language options page, tap the old language of the keyboard
10. Select Remove.
11. Now you have successfully modified the configuration of your keyboard
to the United States language.
