"if the rate of change outside
exceeds the rate of change inside,
the end is in sight."
-JACK WELCH
PEDAGOGY is the art and science of teaching; the study and
theory of the methods and principles of teaching.
Pedagogical principles:
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
is the same principle as ADAPTABILITY
referring to the learners' accommodation
of different and plural learning contexts.
THREE C's
CONTENT - COACH (TEACHER) - COMMUNITY (COHORT / CLASS)
The right balance of the three elements makes
a good learning experience = INTERACTIONAL
LEARNING where learning takes place as a
consequence of the relationship that is created
between the 3 aspects.
SYNCHRONOUS
when the teacher meets with the students
at the same time whether Face to Faceor
online.
ASYNCHRONOUS
when the teacher provides recorded lectures
and learning materials depending on the
modality (subdividing learning experiences
into smaller chunks)
APPROACHES TO PEDAGOGY
CONSTRUCTIVISM
theory by JEAN PIAGET which posits that a
learner forms new understandings and
knowledge through experience and social
discourse, integrating new information with
what they already know (prior knowledge).
social CONSTRUCTIVISM
theory by LEV VYGOTSKY (1968) which states that
language and culture are the frameworks through which
humans experience, communicate, and understand
reality. SC focuses on the collaborative nature of learning
and that knowledge develops from how people interact
with each other, their culture, and society at large.
Students rely on others to help create their building
blocks, and learning from others helps them construct
their own knowledge and reality.
BEHAVIORISM
a theory based on classroom learning studies by
Thorndike (1911), Pavlov (1927) and Skinner (1957)
on the idea that all behaviors are acquired
through conditioning, and conditioning occurs
through interaction with the environment. The
theory focuses on the use of direct instruction,
and lecture based lessons to communicate
different topics to students.
LIBERATIONISM
Developed by Brazilian educator, Paulo Freire
where the student voice (his topics of interest and
the duration of the lesson) is placed at the centre,
and the classroom is democratic in culture.
Students are encouraged to scrutinise and
question learning material as they explore topics in
their own way wherein they will obtain the
knowledge they NEED as the class works
collaboratively together to discover new subjects.
CONNECTIVISM
Is where learners encourage each other to be
involved in networks, internet use and making use
of their metacognition (thinking how to think);
patterning (knowledge recognition) and
wayfinding (identifying goals and mission through
networks and community involvement) and
realizing the emergent knowledge 9ontology-
learning to be)through an integration of informal
and formal learning.
INSTRUCTIVISM
The theory of instructivism maintains that
knowledge should be transferred directly into the
mind of the learner from the instructor. This
knowledge is expected to be wholly accepted and
not questioned by the learner or even analyzed by
him

Flexibility in Learning
is aform of ADAPTABILITY; an adaptive design applies to both
DELIVERY and DESIGN using technology only to the extent that it
facilitates education and considers learners needs and
situation. TECHNOLOGY must be used to facilitate learning.
DELIVERY.
Learning experiences of different courses are DELIBERATELY REVISED for
repurposing.
DESIGN.
Courses are contextualized in order that no student will be left behind.
Flipped Classrooms”
Students read up and learn the concept
beforehand and the students and teachers
in the classroom then communicate openly
and equally for facilitation of learning
rather than one sided teaching.
a well-designed technologically mediated
learning experience
should be as effective as in-person learning
IF PEDAGOGY
DOES NOT LEAD
TO LEARNING,
IT IS RENDERED
USELESS
