PSYCHOSOCIAL ACTIVITIES
The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic crisis’ effects are not limited to physical
health-related concerns but are health and wellbeing of both adults and children worldwide. One of
the sectors severely affected by the COVID-19n pandemic is the education sector, due to the
inevitable closure of schools. For almost two years, education was implemented through a distance
learning modality and throughout this period, learners and personnel did not have a physical
interaction with friends and teachers.
The Department of Education Psychosocial Support Activities provides guidance for teachers
to conduct psychosocial support activities for learners, in line with the implementation of in-person
classes for School Year 2022-2023.
In Kindergarten Class we prepare activities that can help them adjust in the new learning
environment because in two years their homes were served as a classroom and their parents as their
teachers. So, we provide a smooth transition from their homes to school, we started we some warm-
up action songs to make them feel active, happy and secure. Then we have the “Emotion Mood
Chart” every day we check their feelings to know if they were happy, excited, scared or bored.
We also present different activities, songs and rhymes. At the first day of class, we also have
the “Introduction of oneself” we let them say their name, after that we welcome them in the class.
In HInigaran Elementary School-A, we want to provide a secure, safe and happy learning
environment for our learners. So as much as possible we provide different activities to support their
psychosocial needs and adjustment in this transition.
