Cadastral Map Naming

This document provides information about cadastral map numbering and computations in the Philippines. It explains that cadastral maps cover 1 minute of latitude and longitude, have a scale of 1:4,000, and a base size of 54cm x 54cm. It provides the length and area computations for 1 minute of latitude and longitude. For determining the cadastral map number, it uses the southwest corner in degrees-minutes. It gives an example of computing the cadastral map number and sectional map number for a given point. Finally, it provides 3 problems to determine cadastral map numbers for various points.

Sectional Map Number

CADASTRAL MAP NUMBERING AND COMPUTATIONS

I. Cadastral Map → comprise an area within a spherical

quadrangle
• A quadrangle has 1 minute of an arc of latitude and 1
minute of an arc of longitude.
• PPCS scale of 1:4,000
• Stable base of uniform size 54 cm x 54 cm

II. Spheroidal Quadrangle

1’ = 60” (where 1” ≈ 31 m, actually

30.723 m)
∆Northing = Latitude
Length of 1’ meridian

1’ = 60” (where 1” ≈ 30 m, actually 30.454 m) From the cadastral map A, with CM no. 10°27’ N, 122°18’ E,
∆Easting = Departure determine the sectional map number of 6.
Length of 1’ parallel
Solution: Clockwise in numbering/ labeling
III. Area of each Cadastral Map
Length of 1’ meridian = 60(31) = 1860 m
Length of 1’ parallel = 60(30) = 1800 m
Dimensions: 1860x1800 ; Area: 334.8 ha

IV. Determination of Cadastral Map Number

Rule/Convention:
• the southwest corner element of the area
• south parallel, west meridian Sectional Map No. of 6:
• always in the form of degrees-minutes only CM 10°27’ N - 122°18’ E Sec. 4-C-SW-2

PROBLEMS:
Example: From the given CM,
1) BLLM 1 whose latitude is 16°45’18.87” and longitude of
121°40’10” has coordinates equal to 20000 N, 20000 E with the
corresponding distance per second in meter for latitude = 30.82
m and longitude 29.33 m. Determine the cadastral map
containing the following points:
a) Q (24500.10 N, 17956.15 E)
b) R (19626.57 N, 18997.33 E)
CM
10°26’ N 2) BLLM 1 coordinates (20000 N, 20000 E)
122°18’ E Lat = 12°10’40”, Long = 124°30’20”
Length of 1” of meridian = 30.682 m
Length of 1” of parallel = 30.462 m
Determine the cadastral map of the following points:
a) Q (21590.12 N, 19815.45 E)
b) R (19436.79 N, 18500.33 E)

3) A certain point P has coordinates (19852.26 N, 22334.48 E),

Determine the following:
lat = 14°26’33”, and long = 122°15’29”. Determine the cadastral
a) CM No. of A
map of the following points:
= (10°26’ + 1’) N, 122°18’E
a) A (19876.45 N, 22354.79 E)
= 10°27’ N, 122°18’ E
b) B (21634.97 N, 16997.33 E)
b) CM No. of C
= 10°26’ N, (122°18’ – 1’) E
= 10°26’ N, 122°17’E
