THE THINGS THAT GOD CANNOT DO

Prepared by: Jessie Manlangit

(Job 11:7) NKJV

[7] “Can you search out the deep things of God? Can you find out the limits of the Almighty?

What are the things that God never do?

1. God cannot lie –

Numbers 23:19
[19] “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has
He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Do we think that God lied to us? In fact, as we notice that in the old testament, that He is not
a man to create lies, but only one can make lies and to tempt you for lies. As we go back in
the story of Adam and Eve, we’ve notice about the lies of the devil and how he tempts the
creation of the Lord just to fall the nature of man to this world of sin. From the very
beginning, at the book of Genesis chapter 2 & 3 stated about the strategy of the devil about
lying and denying the promise of God.

Sometimes, we are getting involve from lies and we learn to lie for our family, relatives and
spiritual guides. We learn how to make stories just keep the truth and making lots of unreal
situations that produce deception.

“The truth may hurt for a little, but a lie hurts forever”.

Let us not put words just to save ourselves. Because lying can deliver you to curse you won’t
be expected to experience.

“Hurt me with the truth but don’t ever comfort me with a lie”

Don’t ever pretend about giving words but denying the truth.
The tongue says comes from the heart even it is good or bad. It’s up to a person on how they
control their tongue to speak.

(Proverbs 18:21)
[21] Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit
thereof.

We need to control our tongue to deliver it. Be aware of the idle word, the deliberate lie. All
this kind will destruct us and change our lives and lead to do evil things. But the right word
may direct you out of sin and into salvation, how we need the Lord to control our tongue.
We are sometimes tempted to believe the lie that God does not love us. Thankfully the Bible is
filled with evidence that this is not true.
David Jeremiah

2. God cannot change –

(Malachi 3:6) AMP

[6] “For I am the LORD, I do not change [but remain faithful to My covenant with you]; that
is why you, O sons of Jacob, have not come to an end.

(Hebrews 13:8)
[8] Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and for ever

God doesn’t ever change. But we are only changing our way we recognize Jesus.
We are changing attitudes even we already know that we need not to conform and include
ourselves to this world. God promise even at the old testament that God himself doesn’t ever
change, He himself also is the God that has full of promises for you.

It is essential that we recognize and confess wrong actions against those whom we have
offended, but it is also important that we discern, confess and change wrong attitudes which
cause or result in wrong actions.

If you are willing to change your thinking, you can change your feelings. If you change your
feelings, you can change your actions. And changing your actions based on good thinking
can change your life.

John C. Maxwell

It's just like that with God. Nothing causes more inconsistency in our life as when we try and
live our life totally unaware of His presence. He's always there, and in spite of stumbles and
fumbles, He still moves to us. God's got a game plan, He's broken it down for us too.

When the Lord become a man, the only changes about it is His reformation, when He stands
as human, but His sufficient grace and His stand as great God is still in His own attributes.
(Manifestation to man). But His plan, His words are still there and not change.
As being in a human body, we are involved to change, sometimes our ways, actions, thoughts
and imaginations even we notice that we need separation protected by the Holy Spirit of God,
but we’ve changed our ways just to fulfill our happiness and enjoyment, contentment and
decisions.
3. God cannot fail –

(1 Kings 8:56)
[56] Blessed be the Lord, that hath given rest unto his people Israel, according to all that he
promised: there hath not failed one word of all his good promise, which he promised by the
hand of Moses his servant.
[57] The Lord our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor
forsake us:

God doesn’t fail to fulfill His promises.

God’s love does not hinge on yours. The abundance of your love does not increase his. The
lack of your love does not diminish his. Your goodness does not enhance his love, nor does
your weakness dilute it. What Moses said to Israel is what God says to us: The LORD did not
choose you and lavish his love on you because you were larger or greater than other nations,
for you were the smallest of all nations! It was simply because the LORD loves you.
(Deuteronomy 7:7–8) NLT

God never choose us about our identity, talents and abilities rather than how we mold and
being strategic we are, but God choose us because of His lovingkindness to us and He is not
failing to choose us, but some of us are failing, choosing our own contentment rather than
choosing God.

We become failures of choosing to fulfill our happiness rather than choosing the One who
will give a forever happiness.

(Romans 9:25)
[25] As he saith also in Osee, I will call them my people, which were not my people; and her
beloved, which was not beloved.
(Romans 9:25) Ang Dating Biblia
[25] Gaya naman ng sinasabi niya sa aklat ni Oseas, Tatawagin kong aking bayan na hindi ko
dating bayan; At iniibig, na hindi dating iniibig.

The Process of not to fail about His promises

(Joshua 1:6-9)
[6] Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance
the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
[7] Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all
the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the
left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
[8] This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day
and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou
shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
[9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be
thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
4. God cannot be tempted with evil –

(James 1:12-13)
[12] Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the
crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
[13] Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted
with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

(1 John 2:16)
[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

All that is in the world may be summed up by this threefold evil:

1. Lust of the flesh

2. Lust of the eyes
3. Pride of life

Both Eve and Jesus were tempted in thus threefold manner.

 EVE'S TEMPTATION
(Genesis 3:6)
[6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the
eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and
gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

 The tree 'was good for food' - Lust of the flesh

 The tree 'pleasant to the eyes' - Lust of the eyes
 The tree 'desired to make one wise' - Pride of life

 Jesus Temptation
(Matthew 4:1-10)
This teaches us the great lesson that we that we also may have the victory by using of God's
Word.
Over your Temptation, there is a victory and reward when you using the Word of God as
your greatest weapon and great foundation.

5. God never forget –

(Deuteronomy 4:31)
[31] (for the Lord your God is a merciful God), He will not forsake you nor destroy you, nor
forget the covenant of your fathers which He swore to them.

God doesn’t forget what He promised.

(2 Peter 3:9)
[9] The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is
longsuffering toward [a]us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to
repentance.
In fact, we are the one who forget God because we are enough of what we have and
sometimes, we are only pleasing God we have needs. But God is not our last option just to
receive what we ask. In reality, we are just looking and dealing with God to fulfill our needs
and wants in life.

 God rescued us!

 God gives grace and mercy to which are hunger and finding resting place which
belongs to Him.
 God is full of Compassion
 God keep our tears in the bottle and keeping tracks of all our sorrows just like David
said.

But How do we forget God for the sake of our wants and follow our own will? Does the
promise of God impact to us? Or it’s just a normal word that we read but not meditating it.

6. God cannot deny himself –

(2 Timothy 2:13)
[13] If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.

Don’t ever call God as selfish because God truly fair through us. And base on my own
opinion about this, God is more fulfill our wants even we continue to sin and conform to this
world. But never deny Himself because we sin. He hates the sin but He loves the sinners.
That’s why even we are bound by temptations, God remind us to overcome every temptation
of the evil just to receive the reward of His greatness.

The fact that Jesus didn’t deny Himself, because He prove His unconditional love just to pay
our sins.

We are the one who deny ourselves to God.

Another weakness of self that needs to be denied is selfish ambition which can be a threat to
the welfare of our Christian life. Many Christians started good but they ended bad because of
Selfish Ambition.

Look at Lucifer, cause of his downfall, because of being self-ambition

If you want to become a true disciple of Christ, set aside your personal ambitions in life. The
desire to be popular, rich and powerful is a venom to our spiritual life.

PRINCIPLES IN MAKING DECISIONS

 Do not violate God’s Word.
 Do not violate your conscience
 Seek the face of God in prayer. (God’s answer will always be in accordance with His
Word directly or principle of His Word).
 Do not allow selfish feelings and self-centered ideas over rule your sound judgement
and godly reasoning even though it may bring painful results.
 Do not violate your integrity and self-respect as Christian.
 Absolutely refuse to “Sell” out your convictions, principles and standards for a
moment of selfish gratification or advancement.
 Seek the wise counsel of your parents and Pastor before making major decisions that
could affect your walk with God. (Never too proud to seek help and ask advice when
you need it. In the multitude of counselors there is safety).
 Keep yourself calm and under control of the Holy Ghost at all times.
 After you have made your decision trust the Lord and leave the results with him.
 Refuse to let sinners and carnal Christians influence your decisions.

7. God cannot be partial –

(James 1:17)
[17] Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father
of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

(Romans 2:11)
[11] For God does not show favoritism.

Everyone has a perfect gift from above. God never choose you or each of us because of our
talents, abilities, or maybe we are gifted to this kind of position, or maybe you are so much
strategic or whatever it is, God never choose us because of what skills do we have.

God does not care if we are “Jew or Greek [Gentile], or whatever person you are, male or
female, slave or free.” It doesn’t matter to God because it’s not about who we are now, or
who we were before. It’s about who we become in Christ Jesus.

God is looking not to skills or what we are right now, God is merely looking for our
willingness to offer to Him.
(Genesis 4:3-4) Cain and Abel’s Story

Abel’s sacrifice was accepted because Abel brought of the firstborn of his flock- the best
choice one (Genesis 4:4). Cain, on the other hand, brought, in the process of time, an offering
from the fruit of the ground (Genesis 4:3).

Abel showed respect for God by bringing his choicest sheep but Cain brought the leftovers
from the ground. Just as God knows everyone's heart, He knew Cain’s. Cain gave God an
attitude instead of considering why Abel’s offering was respected (Gen 4:5). This is why
Abel’s offering was respected (because he revered God.)

All are called to share in the divine revelation of God’s healing love as experienced through
the saving grace of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Paul is making sure we understand that
our tasks as Christians are to be living witnesses to this profound truth.
