 Carbon Equivalent 

(CE) is an empirical value in weight percent, relating the combined effects of different alloying
elements used in the making of carbon steels to an equivalent amount of carbon. This value can be calculated using a
mathematical equation.
 The Tubular Exchanger Manufacturers Association, Inc. (TEMA) is trade association of
leading manufacturers of shell and tube heat exchangers
 Super Duplex Stainless Steel. 25% chromium copper-free super duplex(austenitic/ferritic) steel (also known as 2507).
Good strength and ductility combined with high marine corrosion resistance. Primarily used for Oil & Gas and marine
applications
 Duplex stainless steels have a two-phase microstructure of austenite and ferrite grains. The duplex structure gives this
family of stainless steels a combination of attractive properties: Strength: Duplex stainless steels are about twice as
strong as regular austenitic or ferritic stainless steels.
 What's the difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel? The simple answer is304 contains 18% chromium and 8%
nickel while 316 contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum. The molybdenum is added to help resist
corrosion to chlorides (like sea water and de-icing salts)
 Duplex 2205 is a two-phase, ferritic, austenitic 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, 5 to 6% nickel alloyed stainless steel.
It is the most widely used duplex stainless steel grade and is characterized by high yield strength, double that of the
standard austenitic stainless steel grades.
