Rizal's educational plan involved a balanced schedule of studying, recreation, and social activities while still allowing for self-care. It aimed to maximize time by developing talents and abilities without compromising personal or social life. However, criticisms included that having too many activities could overexhaust the mind and body or be too ambitious for one day. The plan focused on proper motivation and improvements to education through accuracy, punctuality, and mastering various skills and subjects through allotting time for each.

1.

Make a reaction paper regarding Rizal’s educational plan for his (aborted)
modern high school.

Rizal’s educational plan is a balanced schedule of studying, recreation, and social

plans and still being able to take care of yourself. Therefore, it may be an effective plan
if you are a student with dozens of extra-curricular activities. But for me, I cannot
implement this kind of schedule because I have a different way to study and different
time schedule that is effective for me. I noticed that Rizal had many sports that he
practices and he had many hobbies to do during his free time. With this kind of
educational plan, you can maximize your time and you can hone your talents and
abilities without compromising your personal and social time.

2. Enumerate your three (3) criticisms regarding his paradigm. Explain your
respective criticisms.
a. Having too many sports and recreational activity may be a hindrance to
one another, it is better to learn one activity at a time so you can focus
your attention to it.
b. Filling your time with studying and recreational activities might exhaust
your mind and your body, from time to time you can take a day off and do
nothing. Learning is a progress and you don’t have to take a big leap in
order to learn something immediately, you can take one step at a time.
c. This set of ideas is too much for a person to do in one day, even though
the time is short, it may be too little time to spend on something that you
want to learn. Though there are breaks in between, the breaks may not be
enough to rest your mind and body and might lead to exhaustion and burn
out.
3. Pinpoint what type of educational philosophy this Rizal educational plan showed.
Provide and/or cite three examples from this plan with explanations (with proper
citation of sources/links).

Rizal’s educational plan focuses on proper motivation to strengthen the social

forces that makes education successful. He sought for educational improvements in
schools and in the methods of teaching in institutions. In one of the articles stated
below, Rizal’s concept of education’s requirement is accuracy and punctuality, that
reflects on his educational plan because he aims to follow the same routine
everyday by following the allotted time. He also aims to master various skills,
subjects, and languages, thus including arts and sports in his daily educational plan.
Without having to bargain one activity to another, he chose to manage his time by
allotting an activity to a certain time slot.

4. As future teachers and/or theater actors, is this educational paradigm worth

implementing to today’s educational woes? Still relevant to the present educational
situations? Elaborate your respective responses.

In this times of pandemic, this educational paradigm cannot be implemented in

today’s educational system because not all students have the privilege to study and do
recreational activity at the same day, as students have different methods of learning. As
a future theater actress, this type of educational plan is not applicable to my learning
method as I need more time to focus on studying the course and learning skills in
theater, I do not have time to practice sports. I want to own my time and learn at my
own pace without compromising the time I need for myself. Socialization is important for
my emotional health and having the time for myself is an essential for my mental health.
Focusing on plenty of activities is not for me because I want to learn one skill at a time
and then proceed to another.
