Coal Grades

The document outlines the grading systems used for different types of coal in India. Coking coal is graded based on ash content, with grades ranging from Steel Grade I (ash <=15%) to Washery Grade IV (ash 28-35%). Non-coking coal is graded based on Useful Heat Value (UHV), with grades A-G corresponding to UHV ranges and maximum ash+moisture contents. Semi-coking and weakly coking coal grades are based on a maximum ash+moisture content of 19-24%. Non-energy coal also has two grades based on UHV ranges and corresponding ash+moisture percentages.
