EYES.THE IMAM NASIR MAUSOLEUM IS ONE
OF THE OLDEST MONUMENTS IN THE CITY OF
JALANDHAR, AND HAS BEEN NAMED AFTER A
GREAT SAINT OF THE MEDIEVAL ERA, IMAM
NASIR.
ACCORDING TO ARCHAEOLOGICAL SURVEYS,
THE IMAM NASIR MAUSOLEUM IS SUPPOSEDLY
AN 800-YEAR-OLD STRUCTURE. IN SPITE OF
ITS MAGNIFICENT ARCHITECTURE AND
HISTORIC RELEVANCE, NOT MANY ARE AWARE
ABOUT THIS MAUSOLEUM.

02/HISTORY
IMAM NASIR MAUSOLEUM IS ALMOST EIGHT
HUNDRED YEAR OLD WHILE THE JAMA
MASJID IS FOUR HUNDRED YEAR OLD
PLACE IN JALANDHAR. IT IS MOST
SIGNIFICANT AND RELIGIOUS PLACE OF THE
CITY. THE MAUSOLEUM IS SURROUNDED BY
MARKET PLACE AND THE STRUCTURE IS
STANDING ON FOUR WHITE PILLARS IN THE
ARENA.
THE IMAM NASIR MAUSOLEUM ALSO
HOUSES A DARGAH IN ITS PREMISES,
WHICH IS SAID TO BE 1100-YEAR-OLD. THE
OUTER COMPLEX WAS CONSTRUCTED LONG
AFTER THAT. THE DARGAH IS FAMOUS FOR
HOUSING BABA FARID, THE 12TH-CENTURY
SUFI SAINT, FOR A 40-DAY STAY.

03/ARCHITECTURE
THE IMAM NASIR MAUSOLEUM IS A SPLENDID
WHITE STRUCTURE WITH FOUR MAJESTIC
SPIRES WHICH STAND AS HALLMARKS ON THE
STREETS OF JALANDHAR. EVERY LOOK AT THE
SPELLBINDING ARCHITECTURE OF THIS
MAUSOLEUM MAKES YOU APPRECIATE THE
ARTISTIC SKILLS OF THOSE TIMES.IT WAS
BUILT MAGNIFICENTLY IN THE TYPICAL
MUGHAL ARCHITECTURE. IT IS WONDERFULLY
DESIGNED AND CONSTRUCTED IN MINAR
SHAPE WHICH IS PARTICULARLY USED FOR
CONSTRUCTING MOSQUES.
IT IS A DOUBLE STOREY BUILDING WHICH IS
TOPPED BY CLOCK TOWER IN THE CENTER OF
MAUSOLEUM. THE ENTIRE BUILDING IS
CRAFTED WITH FINE DESIGNING OF STONE
WORK AND MARBLE WORK. THE STRUCTURE
OF MAUSOLEUM IS ENHANCED BY
BEAUTIFULLY SURROUNDED GARDEN WHICH
MESMERIZES THE DEVOTEES AND TRAVELERS
COMING IN THE CITY.

THERE WERE LIKE CRACKS ON THE
WALLS OF THE CLOCK TOWER, AS
OBSERVED. THE WALLS' PLASTER IS
CHIPPING. THE CEMENT PLASTER HAS
BEEN CHIPPED OUT IN SOME AREAS OF
THE MAUSOLEUM, AND BRICKS ARE
VISIBLE. DAMAGED MARBLE
ORNAMENTED DETAILS UNDER THE
BALCONIES THE BASE OF THE CLOCK
TOWER HAS CRACKS, AND THE MARBLE
FINISHING ON THE WALL IS CHIPPING OUT,
AND SOME PART OF THE MARBLE HAS
TURNED A PALE YELLOW COLOR.AS ONE
OF THE OLDEST EXISTING HERITAGE
STRUCTURES, THESE FACTORS NEED TO
BE NOTED OUT AND THIS BUILDING
NEEDS TO BE CONSERVED.
