1.1 Inspect nose door FLIR and nose avionics compartment as follows: 0.2 B
Open nose door
UH-60A UH-60L EH-60A
Inspect nose door and Doppler/GPS computer for obstructions
Check nose door for damage and seal for adhesion, cleanliness, and
any deterioration
Inspect EOMS sensors for security and cracked, broken, or dirty lens
Inspect nose door hinges for cracks
Inspect avionics compartment access door, components, electrical
connectors, and wiring for excessive wear, security, and damage
Inspect AN/AAR-57 sensor harness for unwrapping of spiral wrap and
harness security
Inspect shock mounts for bottoming, corrosion, and security
Inspect interior ducts and lines for security
(FLIR) [Forward Looking Infared Radar] Remove FLIR fairing
(FLIR) [Forward Looking Infared Radar] Check condition of FLIR and
fairings. Check for dents, cracks, missing hardware, corrosion, and
damage. Inspect wiring for proper connection, burns, chafing, and
security
(FLIR) [Forward Looking Infared Radar] Install FLIR
Close door and check for positive latching. Secure both latches
1.2 Inspect cockpit exterior as follows: 0.1 A B
Inspect cockpit drain holes for blockage
Inspect cockpit exterior skin for corrosion, dents, cracks, and missing
rivets
Inspect wire strike guides for corrosion, security, and damage
Inspect windshield, windshield wiper arms and blades for security, wear,
cracks, and deterioration

Lubricate windshield wiper studs and converter
1.3 Inspect all AREA No. 1 antennas for cracks, dents, scratches, cleanliness, 0.1 A B
and missing attachment hardware
NOTE
Evidence of a lightning strike will appear as a blackened surface,
pit or hole with a burned rim.
1.4 Check pilot and copilot step assemblies for cracks, corrosion and missing 0.1 A B
hardware. Check for evidence of lightning strikes
1.5 Inspect cockpit interior as follows: 0.4 A B
Check entire cockpit interior for general cleanliness, corrosion damage,
evidence of oil leaking from ceiling, security of fasteners, and structural
cracks
Check crew doors for proper operation and damage. Inspect seals for
deterioration, loosening of bonds, and signs of leaks
Check latches and hinges for condition and security
Check window seal for proper installation and for deterioration
Check cockpit door jettison mechanism for security
1.6 Inspect pilot and copilot seats as follows: 0.1 A B
Check for damage, security, positive movement, and locking in all
positions
Check armored wing panels, slide tubes, and bushings for security,
damage, cleanliness, and ease of operation.
Inspect seat rails, resilient mounts and spherical bearings for condition
and security
Check lap belts for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security
Check crotch belt for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security
Check shoulder harness for corrosion, cuts, fraying, and security
Check inertia reel for damage, security, and positive locking and
unlocking
Check torque stripe security detail of trunnion bolts on all Simula seats
(P/N 100900-1, 100900-3, 100900-5). If torque stripe indicates slippage,
refer to WP 0664 [Helicopter Painted Surfaces Touchup Repair] for
corrective action. If torque stripe is not applied, refer to WP 0664
[Helicopter Painted Surfaces Touchup Repair] for installation of torque
stripe to trunnion bolts. Recline seats.
1.7 Inspect engine control quadrant for general condition 0.1 A B

NOTE
Check that No. 1 and No. 2 ENG POWER CONTROL and No. 1
and No. 2 ENG FUEL SYS levers are shut off and that #1 and #2
ENG EMER OFF T-handles are fully forward.
1.8 Inspect pilot and copilot collective sticks, cyclic sticks, and yaw control 0.1 A B
pedals as follows:
Inspect for general condition
Check boots at base of sticks for loose fit, cracks, splitting, or damage.
Ensure that there are no openings through which foreign objects may
enter flight control linkage area below
Inspect grips for cracks and loose switches, and check that all lettering is
readable
Inspect yaw control pedals for dirt or mud accumulation
Check boots at base of pedals for loose fit, cracks, splitting, or damage.
Ensure that there are no openings through which foreign objects may
enter flight control linkage area below:
Open boots. Check brake master cylinders for leaks. Close boots
1.9 Inspect pilot and copilot seat wells as follows: 0.1 A B
Recline seats
Inspect installed components, electrical connectors, and wiring for
excessive wear, damage and security
Return seats to upright position and secure
1.10 (FLIR) [Forward Looking Infared Radar] Inspect Turret FLIR Unit (TFU) 0.2 A B
Scan Cavity (BIT/FIT Indication)
1.11 Inspect for foreign object damage and ensure all access panels, cowlings, 0.1 A B
and doors opened or removed for this inspection are closed or installed
