The Hughesville Borough Council held its regular monthly meeting on June 27, 2011. During the meeting, a guest commented that the borough website's welcome page resembled a school site and suggested changing the graphic. June 27, 2011 - 7:00, PM


Council members and staff present Jeffery Berger, Andrew Mook, Curtis Michael, James Savage, Mayor Walter Reed, Dolores Moyer and Chief Gill The regular meeting of the Hughesville Borough Council was called to order by Council President Jeffery Berger followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Guests and Visitors: Bob Simmons said the Boroughs website looks like its the schools site because of the Spartan head on the welcome page. He would like to see something else. Simmons said he realizes that the site is still under construction. Bob Baker, Alyssa Murphy (Sun-Gazette) Approve Agenda: June 27, 2011 Michael moved, seconded by Savage. Motion passed. Approve Minutes: June 13, 2011 Michael moved, seconded by Mook. Motion passed. Mayors Report: Reed said that the newspaper reported that no fireworks after 10:00 PM but it should have said starting no later than 10:00 PM. Council is now in possession of the DCED Regional Police Study for Southeastern Lycoming County; the Borough needs to have 2 appointees to continue working and updating the study. Savage moved to appoint Reed and Michael to the group, seconded by Mook. Motion passed. The mayor would like to meet with public safety & properties committees before the next council meeting. Public Works Report: Berger said that the COG bid amount is $56,243. Liquid Fuels will pay $48, 901 and the General Fund will pay $7,342 because the spray and stone are not Liquid Fuels approved. Mook moved seconded by Savage. Motion passed. Hughes and Spruce Alleys will have need 2,053 sq. yards of spray and stone at a cost of $4,718 to the Alleys and Curbs Fund. Savage moved seconded by Mook. Motion passed. Code Inspections, Inc. A letter of zoning violation to Richard Roberts for not getting a permit to build a fence; he was previously cited for junk on his property. Borough Secretary: Moyer said that Seda-Cog will attend the July 11, 2011 meeting to discuss the results of the Energy Audit theyve been working on. The Borough has been on a waiting list pending availability of funding to Seda-Cog to complete this audit. They will give examples of consumption for the past 2 years through graphs and charts and make recommendations based on where the greatest losses are occurring. Business:

SPCA thank-you letter Letter from Champion Technologies, Inc. Not exactly sure where this new business is going to be but thought it might be close to pump house #101. Council will discuss at a later date if necessary.

Council went into a closed session to discuss personnel: 7:40 PM Mook moved seconded by Michael. Motion passed. Adjournment: Immediately followed
