Empty the actuator of its oil by turning the
shaft with compressed air or manually.
Place the actuator in closed position; i.e.
the indicator notch on the shaft must be
parrallel with the connection flange.
Pressure on port ‘A’.
Dismount the indicator and remove indicator
cover pos. 9. Possible indicatorparts are
loosened and removed from shaft.
Then screw out the bottom member pos. 8
(see page 5/5 ) by means of a pin spanner
( Assembly tool ).
Press out spindle pos. 4 together with
thrust bearing pos. 6 - 7 ( For BRC 022, 032,
052, 072 and 092 the spindle consists of two
parts which can be separated by firts removing
the split and afterwards pulling out the thin
shaft end and removing the O-ring ).
Remove top cover pos. 3. If there are certain
conditions as to the angle position of the
actuator adaptor, mark the piston pos. 2 in
Proportion to the housing pos. 1 in order to
secure that the piston is mounted in the same
position. Then knock out the piston pos. 2
from the bottom with a piercing plug of nylon
or the like.
All sealing rings can now be removed.
Remove all sealings.
Clean all parts in e.g. Shellsol K
( flavourless petroleum ) and inspect for
tear and wear and corrosion damages.
If the housing or piston are defective, a
repair is not possible as these parts are not
delivered as spare parts.

BRC Al
Generally:
O-rings, X-rings and the surfaces touched by
these must be greased with acid-free vaseline
or clean hydraulic oil. All other surfaces,
especially threads, splines and cylinder walls
are also to be greased with hydraulic oil.
The piston with sealing rings is sticked into
the housing and their threads are meshed.
If the piston top and the upper edge of the
housing are marked, these marks are placed
oppersite each other when the threads are
meshed .
Knock piston pos. 2 slightly into the cylinder
with light blows by means of a plastic hammer
and then push cylinder cover pos. 3 into end
position.
In the 4 small types locking ring pos. 15 is
now mounted with the burr side outwards.
In the 5 big types the cylinder cover bolts
are tightened with the torque prescribed under
item 5,0.
Turn round the actuator and knock the piston
into the cylinder by means of a piercing plug
of nylon into end position at cylinder cover
pos. 3.
Grease spindle pos. 4 on splines and stem and
turn it until the indicator notch at the end
of the spindle is parallel with the connection
flange on the side of the housing and is
carefully led into end position in piston and
cylinder cover.
Lay down thrust bearing pos. 6 end 7 over the
spindle and bottom flange with sealing rings
are mounted ( assembly tool ).
Mount and fix indicator cover pos. 9 ( or
position indicator ) with 3 screws pos. 22.
If position indicator is mounted, follow the
specified instruction,

Lay down the actuator with the connection
ports upwards and port 'B' connected to the
hydraulic supply.
With a flow to port 'B’ press the piston into
bottom position. The 'A' port is now
completely filled with oil and is connected
to the panel,
Add oil flow alternately in both directions
8 - 10 times. At the same time check that the
actuator spindle is moving smoothly and that
all air has been removed. By looking at the
indicator notch at the spindle end check that
it is rotating 90° +/- 1°.
Lead a max. working pressure to 'A' port into
extreme position. Remove the connection at
'B' port and hold the pressure for 3 minutes
while examining for external leakage at the
joints.
No leakage are admitted.
At the same time check 'B' port for leakage
across the piston sealings.
These must be drop-proof.
Carry out the same procedure with pressure on
'B’ port and open 'A' port.
Empty the actuator for its oil which is to
be led to the tank by either leading air
pressure to port 'A’ or by turning the
actuator manually. Finally plug the
connection ports.
If the actuators are furnished with
accessories, such as position indicators,
mounting blocks with various valves as well
as hand pump, etc. these are to be tested
together with the actuator.

General: 5.1 Pos. 20 - BRC 002M, 002, 012.
The thread must be lubricated with
loctite 542.
The O-rings groove must be lubricated
with hydraulic oil.
The plug must be tigtened with 1-2 Nm,
so the plug are cracking.

‘The BRC-actuator is not self-locking, for which reason it
is necessary to bar behind in the system in case of emer-
gency operation.
This can be done either by means of a double non-return
valve, pilot operated, or by mounting a block with check
and cross-over valves, when direct manual emergency opera-
tion is wanted, and quick connections, when hydraulic
emergency operation is wanted.
Brergency operation is e.g. actual in case of pressure
Grop in the hydraulic system.
Opening of valve, ranuall
Cross-over valve to be opened in order to make the oil
flow from one side of the piston to the other. By means of
a spanner the splined shaft is tured against "open".
When the valve has been turned to the position wanted, the
cross-over valve is closing. Then the oil is barred on
both sides of the piston, keeping the valve in position.
Manual closing of the valve:
Follow the same procedure to close the valve, but the
other way round - splined shaft against "closed".
Qpening / Closing of valve by means of a hand pap.
‘The hoses on the hand pump are to be connected to the
respective joints on the actuator by means of quick
connections.
‘The cross-over valve is to be placed in the position
wanted, open / closed, and you mist pump till the valve
is in the position wanted.
‘he cross-over valve is then placed in position "neutral"
to lock the oil on either side of the piston, and the
valve is kept in position.
