End of Term 1 mocks

Dear Parents,
In order to best prepare students for their exams, we want to replicate the exam situation as closely as
possible. This means that students will have a specific date and time at which to sit their paper, will need to
follow exam regulations and submit their paper according to the guidelines given.
The Ministry of Education has stated that examinations for IGCE and AS/A Level students must take place in
school so that they are ready for their public exams in the summer. This means that we are unable to offer
online exams for students in Grade 9-12 as they need to complete their exams in school. Students should
have a negative PCR test to come to school if they have previously been online, and we strongly advise all
students to have their vaccination to keep themselves and the school community safe.
During exams, students can only have the time allocated for the paper as this is what happens during public
exams. This allows students to practise for the timing allowed and learn how to pace themselves, particularly
for older students sitting long papers.
Procedures for exams:
• Students should have 2 black pens, a highlighter and ruler (calculator if specified for the exam must not have
a cover on it). If they bring in a pencil case, it must be a clear plastic case.
• Students mustn’t have a smart watch or phone on them during the exam
• Students mustn’t talk to, or communicate in any way, with others students during the exams.
• Students should bring a water bottle without a label.

Please Note: There is no study leave and exams will be conducted during normal school hours. Also, these
exams will not be counted towards final grades if exams are cancelled.

Your support and encouragement can make a huge difference to your child’s motivation and ability to cope
with the exam stress. Please let them know that these exams are simply an opportunity for them to
demonstrate what they can do confidently now, and what areas they still need to work on. Please do provide
a space for your child to discuss any concerns they may have about the exams with you, and encourage them
to contact their subject teacher if they have any queries.

Thank you for your ongoing support as always,

Ms. Chantelle Sargeant
Head of Secondary.
