KASAS AMO MANUALS AND THEIR
PURPOSE
1. 1. Maintenance Procedures Manual (MPM) – This is the mother of all AMO manuals. It is divided
into 5 parts:
a. Part 1 – Management: This gives a description of the company, the management personnel, the duties and
responsibilities of all staff members. It also gives a guideline on how the manual is developed, amended and distributed.
b. Part 2 – Maintenance Procedures: Are you confused about how you should carry out a maintenance task? This is the
section you should visit. It has step by procedures for all the tasks done in the hangar e.g. procedures for receiving parts
into stores, requisitioning parts and tools from stores, access of technical manuals and ADs e.t.c
c. Part L2 – Line Maintenance Procedures: This section guides all personnel in our line stations w.r.t maintenance. It
contains similar procedures as those in Part 2 but specific to line stations e.g. in Nairobi we receive parts from suppliers
into quarantine stores but in the station they receive parts from Nairobi and put it in a quarantine box awaiting inspection.
d. Part 3 – Quality System Procedures: This explains how the quality department oversees all departments in the
organization including carrying out audits and how the department qualifies staff members for their specific positions.
e. Part 4 – Documentation: This part simply states that we shall use procedures issued by the AOC to carry out
maintenance. Remember Kasas AMO DOES NOT own any aircraft we simply maintain our client’s aircraft.
f. Part 5 – Appendices: Samples of all forms we use e.g. CRS, defect sheets e.t.c
KASAS AMO MANUALS AND THEIR
PURPOSE
2. Capability List – This is a manual that outlines all the ratings and specific tasks that Kasas is approved to
carry out by KCAA. This includes capabilities for base and line maintenance and workshops. This document
will explain why in Mali we can do up to 6mth/600FH inspection yet in Juba we can only do daily and weekly
inspections.
3. AMO Training Manual – Do you want to know which trainings you are supposed to do? Read this manual.
It outlines training requirements and the syllabus for all the courses we do internally e.g. Do 228
familiarization and contracted courses e.g. HFM.
4. Quality Management System Manual – The MPM part 3 only gives a snippet of the Kasas quality
system. This manual gives a detailed description of the QMS system.
5. Safety Management System Manual – This gives the policies and procedures of our SMS system. It
basically explains the pillars of SMS which are:
Safety policy, objectives and resources, State safety risk management., Safety assurance,
Safety promotion.
The internally approved manuals are guideline stating work instructions for each respective
department
BONUS INFORMATION
We did mention that the aircraft do not belong to Kasas AMO? Our clients e.g. Kasas AOC,
Transafrican Air and Busy Bee have AOC manuals that guide the AMO on how they should carry
out maintenance. These manuals include
1. Maintenance Control Manual: This is basically an MPM the only difference is that these
are maintenance instructions issued by the AOC to the AMO. The AOC tells the AMO how
they want their aircraft to be maintained e.g. Kasas AOC has stated that all a/c maintenance
documentation are controlled and stored by Kasas AMO but for Busy Bee the AMO does
not control documents such as A/C, Engines and Propeller log books.
2. Aircraft Maintenance Program: The work pack that you use comes from this manual. It
is developed from the TLMCM (Time Limits Maintenance/Check Manual). It outlines all
maintenance tasks covered under a certain inspection.
3. Supplementary Field Operations Manual: This manual is used in our line stations to
guide all personnel in the station in their daily operations. It contains procedures specific to
the station, and it is a WFP requirement.
There are two categories of AMO company manuals based on how they are approved. Can you name
the categories?
All AMO manuals stem from one main manual. Which manual is this?
The AOC has some manuals that guide the AMO to carry out maintenance tasks. Can you name the
manuals?
The client can also have special requirements for a company to develop a specific manual. Can you
name such a manual?
