A positive of the Quizlet website is the basic necessities that are needed to run it. As long as the student has access to a device
and WIFI, then they can use Quizlet. Problems in this categories arise, however, in the limited accessibility teachers have without
a Quizlet Teacher subscription (teachers can not monitor student progress, study results, add diagrams to their sets, etc.), and
Quizlet’s lack of diversity in teaching students (while offering different, fun games, Quizlet focuses on memorization of terms and
nothing else).

Quizlet is a basic tool that only requires a student and teacher to have up-to- date devices and browsers. Quizlet can be
embedded within an LMS; however, it is not LTI-compliant and you would have to have a Quizlet Teacher subscription to view
your students’ results.

In terms of mobile design, Quizlet works fairly well and allows students access to materials both online and offline. Features on
the mobile app are a little harder to use, but overall it still functions and the materials can be utilized by students.

Overall, Quizlet does not provide easy accessibility to content, users are required to make an account and in some cases pay for
extra resources they might need. The tool does provide an option for users to make their content private so that only them or a
select few can access the content. In this way, Quizlet protects the privacy and property of users. However, while the content is
protected, it is not always easy for users to save/import their content. It requires much more effort and manipulation of the app
to get it to work correctly.

Overall, Quizlet is an incredibly well known tool used by many students when they study. This is a positive aspect of the tool
because it makes it easier for students to operate the website. Additionally, Quizlet allows students to take control of their own
learning with individual practice while also allowing teachers to engage the students with fun class games. Unfortunately, Quizlet
does not allow teachers to keep students logging in anonymously for the in class games. Additionally, Quizlet does not hold
students accountable for their actions because teachers are unable to view students’ scores without a paid subscription.

Quizlet can be customized to suit the classroom context because it allows teachers to put custom study sets (ex. history, ELA, etc.)
into the class. However, the learning outcomes are limited because Quizlet only focuses on learning terms and definitions as
opposed to the deeper meaning of the content. Unfortunately, Quizlet is not very teacher-friendly, and teachers are unable to
monitor student progress, give feedback, or look at students grade after completing an activity on the site.

While Quizlet does feature instructional materials and games that can be utilized by students to learn materials, it is mainly
intended to help students review terms and concepts they learned in class. Quizlet features no specific functions for teaching new
materials, so it is more beneficial for students and teachers to use Quizlet to review materials. Quizlet only features cognitive
engagement to the extent that it helps students grasp concepts better if there is a lack of understanding or if they are studying for
a test or assignment.
Overall, Quizlet is a tool that can be utilized by teachers as a valuable resource to aid student studying. The tool features games
and the ability to create “study sets,” which can help students get a better understanding of terms and concepts that have been
taught in class. While Quizlet can help students grasp concepts that they might not understand, it does not feature tools to help
teachers monitor how the students are doing; teachers can only see if a student has attempted a module/study set. If teachers
would like to monitor student learning, get learning analytics, or perform any other functions like that, then the teacher must pay
for a subscription. Unfortunately, while Quizlet does allow students easy access to study materials, it lacks a majority of
instructional capabilities that other digital tools provide. Quizlet’s ability to be an integral part in a lesson is hampered because it
is hard to teach kids the deeper meaning of a subject while focusing on just the terms. Ultimately, Quizlet would be better as a
study tool because its limited instructional abilities make it unusable for teaching students the deeper meaning of a subject in an
everyday classroom.
