coated wire with or without an additional finishing step on finished components in accordance with
0204Y81063 standard “Coatings against corrosion – General requirements”.
2 Application
The coatings defined in this standard are applied to increase corrosion resistance of springs.
Finishing step on components with CrVI (hexavalent chromium) is not authorized.
Only Cr III (trivalent chromium) finishing is authorized.
3 Coating process and designation
Any origin identification mark present on this drawing is replaced by the one referred to under the norm 0204L61114
The coatings mentioned in this standard are designed according overall process on wire and on
spring by the symbol of coating as follows:
Type of wire coating
Finishing on the component
3.1 Wire coating
Two types are defined:
Type A: Hot dipped galvanized in molten zinc bath
Type B: Hot dipped galvanized in molten zinc with aluminum bath
3.2 Finishing step on components
Two finishing conditions are defined*:
Finishing 1: without finishing step
Finishing 3: Cr III passivating + sealer
In finishing 3, a thin deposit of electroplating zinc before passivating step is allowed on component.
(* Finishing 2 (CrVI passivating) does not exist anymore.)
