The United States has diverse geography spanning 50 states and various regions. It has the world's third longest river in the Mississippi River as well as the Great Lakes. Politically, it is a federal republic with 50 state governments and a federal government based in Washington D.C. Economically, it has the largest economy in the world driven by industries such as petroleum, technology, and entertainment as well as agriculture across its various regions from the Northeast to the West Coast.
