ICE3212 Digital Image Processing Lab Curriculum
ICE3212 Digital Image Processing Lab Curriculum
Prerequisite : None
Courses
Course Objectives : The objective of the lab is to cover fundamental principles of image
processing for analysis and understanding. It covers the theory and basics
of image acquisition, fundamental manipulation, essential analysis and
transformations. Additional objective of course is to analyze the effects of
different noises on images and perform different types of noise elimination
technique. Finally, student will learn on filtering effect on degraded
images.
Course Learning : Students who successfully complete the course CLO-PLO
Outcomes (CLOs) will be able to: Mapping
CLO-1: Demonstrate a knowledge of a broad PLO-1
range of fundamental image processing and
image analysis techniques and concepts (linear
and non-linear filtering, denoising, deblurring,
edge detection, line finding, detection,
morphological operators, compression, shape
metrics and feature based recogniton).
CLO-2: Analyze image negatives, log, gamma PLO-2
transformations, thresholding, histogram
processing, histogram equalization, spatial
correlation and convolution, smoothing and
sharpening filters, gradient.
CLO-3: Design and create practical solutions to PLO-2,3
a range of common image processing problems
and to critically assess the results of their
solutions, including shortcomings.
Teaching-Learning Strategies:
Teaching strategies for this course consists of Lab classes as well as assignments. The lecture
material includes lab manual that consists of experiments and assignments on different types
image transformation and noise elimination technique.
