How To Win The Super Bowl

To win the Super Bowl, teams must first succeed in the offseason and preseason to build a strong roster through free agency, the draft, and practices. During the regular season, teams must have an effective offense to score points, a defense to prevent opponents from scoring, and solid special teams. If teams perform well enough, they make the playoffs which include the wild card round, divisional round, conference championships, and ultimately the Super Bowl final where one team is crowned champion.

HOW TO WIN THE SUPER BOWL

INTRODUCTION:
The sport of football is one of the most popular sports in our
nation, with kids being involved in it from the age of four to
players in the NFL still playing in their mid-forties.
The biggest and most sought-after stage for this sport, is the
National Football League (NFL). The NFL takes the best

1. The OFFSEAson/Preseason

The off-season is the period of time between the previous year’s Super Bowl and the beginning of the
NFL Draft. This period of time is the chance for teams to better their roster. Teams can do this by
multiple ways:
1. Re-sign players that have expiring contracts and have earned a spot on the roster again.
2. Signing players whose contracts have expired with other teams. (Otherwise known as Free
Agents)
3. Drafting college players via the NFL Draft.
4. Conduct training camps and OTA’s. (Organized Team Activities)

While doing this, the teams must be mindful of their cap space, basically how much money they have
for new player contracts, whether or not they are a returning player. This often times will be tricky
because players whose contracts have expired may have performed exceptionally well the prior season,
so now managers will have to account for a pay raise that the player will ask for.

NFL Combine
The NFL Combine is an event where the top graded
draft prospects are invited to show off everything they
have to offer and really solidify why they should be
picked in the Draft.
In the Combine there are six different events:
1. 40 yard dash
2. 5-10-5 shuttle
3. Bench Press
4. Vertical Jump
5. Broad Jump
6. 3 Cone Series
During the Combine, scouting experts for each team is watching each player and determining whether or
not they have the physical skillsets needed to prove beneficial to the team.
NFL Draft
The NFL Draft is the biggest event for a college football athlete looking to make a name for themselves
in the League.
In the Draft, all 32 teams get a pick in which college football players
they want to be on their team. The order of the picks is based off of the
teams’ performance from the last year. For example, in the 2021 NFL
Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars had the first pick of the NFL Draft. This
is because the Jaguars were the worst team that season prior. There are
seven rounds in the Draft, each of the 32 teams get to pick 7 times
theoretically. The defending Super Bowl Champion gets to pick at the
very end of each round. During the Draft, team managers are looking at
NFL Combine results and other highlight videos for the players they
want.
On the road to the Super Bowl, the offseason and preseason is very important to ensuring the right
players are on this team and they all buy in to the same message.

2. Regular Season

The regular season is the most popular period of time. It’s the football everyone watches, the football
that is on your TV on Monday night, Thursday Night, and all-day Sunday. The best time of the year as
some call it. But this is when the team that you have crafted, cultivated, and cultured throughout the
offseason has its chance to prove itself. No matter how a team did in the previous season, they can
always stun the league with their performance.
The regular season consists of 272 games in total, with each team playing 17 games and one week as a
bye-week (a week with no game for select teams). The schedule of games in the regular season is
determined by an algorithm that considers each team’s division, conference, placement last year, and the
division’s placement last year.
For each game, there are three components that must work together to ensure a victory:
1. Offense
2. Defense
3. Special Teams
Offense
Offense is in charge of moving the ball down the field, scoring points, and maintaining possession of the
ball. To do so, the offense is broken down into eleven players:
1. Quarterback
2. Running back/Fullback
3. Halfback
4. Guard (2)
5. Center
6. Tackle (2)
7. Tight End
8. Wide Receiver (2)
If a team manages to get their offense in a
rhythm and constantly moving the ball and
exploiting the defense, that team will be
able to put up more points and keep
furthering a lead.
Defense
Defense is in charge of stopping the opposing offense from scoring the ball and forcing the ball to be
turned back over to the offense. Each defense layout will be different but the one depicted is one the
most basic ones. As you can see, there are 11 positions for
the defensive players:
1. Defensive End
2. Nose Tackle
3. Outside Linebacker
4. Inside linebacker
5. Free Safety
6. Strong Safety
7. Corner/defensive backs
If a team is able to stop the offense from advancing, they
can limit the number of points they put on the board and
keep their own offense on the field.

Special Teams

Special Teams is responsible for kickoffs, extra-point attempts, and field goal attempts. These three
aspects of football are important for ensuring prime ball placement and also scoring points when the
offense is unable to reach the endzone.

3. Postseason/playoffs

After the regular season, hopefully your team has

played their cards right and has made it into the
playoffs. Now starts the true test to the Super Bowl.
WILD CARD GAME

The Wild Card Game is the first round of the playoffs. Teams with the best record in their conference
get a “First Round Bye” which means that they do not play in this game. The winner will advance to the
Divisional Game
Divisional GAME

The Divisional Game is the second round of the playoffs. The team pool has now been reduced to eight
teams after the first round of losses in the Wild Card Game. The winners will advance to the Conference
game.

Conference game

The Conference game is the third round of the playoffs. The team pool is now from eight to four teams.
The winner of each game will be crowned as the NFC or AFC Champions, since they have won the
conference game for that conference.

Super bowl

The Super Bowl is the last round of the playoffs and the biggest stage in the world on that given night.
Two teams; the NFC and AFC Champions will fight it off to be crowned the World Champion of the
NFL.
