Scheme of assessment

1.1. Assessment grades 9 and 10

Criterion based assessments enable students to self-monitor and build self-belief as they can see the
evidence of the progress they are making over time. Students can track their progress using level
descriptors, they can clearly understand how their work can be improved over time.
The four criteria assessed in grades 9 and 10 in foundational subjects: Hindi, English, Mathematics,
Science and Social Science are provided in the table below.

In grade 9 assessment, assessment booklets in all subjects will be provided by DBSE, evaluation and
reporting will be done by school.
In grade 10, board will conduct DBSE Secondary School Assessment Term-end 1 from 10
October to 22 October. Prior to board assessment a school led Readiness Assessment would be
conducted by the school from 20 September to 28 September to familiarise students with board
assessment.
The assessment tasks and methods used in assessment are criterion related, student-centric and
provide feedback for further enhancement of learning. There are two types of assessments used for
reporting student performance in term 1.
• Internal assessments (IA) (10%)
• Term-end assessments (TA) (40%)

DBSE assessments used for reporting for grades 11 & 12 are competency-based assessments.
In grade 11 assessment booklets would be provided by DBSE, evaluation and reporting would be
done by school.
In grade 12 DBSE will conduct DBSE Senior Secondary School Assessment Term-end 1 from 10
October to 21 October 2022. Prior to board assessment a school led Readiness Assessment
would be conducted from 20 September to 26 September 2022 to familiarise students with board
assessment.
