FIELD STUDY 2

LEARNING EPISODE 1

THE TEACHER WE REMEMBER

SUBMITTED TO: Ma’am Arsenia M. Bayongan

SUBMITTED BY: Jamille Nympha C. Balasi
YOUR INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of this TARGET Learning Episode, I must be able to:
 Cite the personal qualities of an effective teacher

ANALYZE:
1. From the PPSTs, the Southeast Asia Teachers Competency Standards
and the TEDx videos that you viewed, what competencies does a great
teacher possess?
Competencies are the skills and information a teacher needs to be
successful. In a highly complex environment where hundreds of critical
decisions must be made every day, instructors need to be proficient in
a wide variety of competencies to improve student learning. These
skills include critical thinking, problem solving, knowledge application,
and creativity. They also involve interpersonal skills like self-direction,
motivation, and learning how to learn as well as teamwork and
communication management.

A good teacher makes the most of every opportunity to promote

education, believing that every child is capable of learning. Education
also extends beyond of the classroom. The teacher takes advantage of
every opportunity to raise the bar on his or her own performance in
order to deliver high-quality instruction.

2. Are these competencies limited only to professional competencies?

No, I believe it must be tied to a qualified educator who can enhance
their effectiveness in managing a highly standardized educational
system.

3. For a teacher to be great is it enough to possess the professional

competencies to plan a lesson, execute a lesson plan, manage a class,
assess learning, compute and report grades? Explain your answer.
No, since some teachers genuinely do not know how to draw in and
inspire students. This could be an intention to be overly kind or overly
strict, leading the students to believe the teacher despises them all.

Even while lesson planning is crucial, you won't be a good teacher

unless you have a thorough mastery of the subject matter beyond what
you are required to teach and the capacity to relate to children in a way
that piques their interest and motivates them to work hard.

4. For a teacher to be great, which is more an important – personal quality

or professional competencies?
Both professional and personal traits are essential for a teacher, and I
believe that without either of them, a teacher would be lacking.
Teachers must possess certain personal traits, such as effective
communication abilities, in order to comprehend the needs of their
students. Professional characteristics or abilities are also necessary
since they enable you to understand the core teaching strategies,
tricks, and practical experience needed to cope with a variety of
students. A teacher who possesses these two traits also has an
advantage because they will help them become an excellent instructor.
To sum up everything I've mentioned so far, a teacher is a whole
package if they have the two characteristics.

5. Who are the teachers that we remember most?

1) Which personal traits do I posse? Not posses? Where do I need to improve in?
According to my personal evaluation, I have ambition, compassion,
understanding, hard effort, perseverance, and determination, Meanwhile, I lack
excitement, and I believe these are the personal attributes in which I need to
improve.

2) Which professional competencies am I strongly capable of demonstrating?

In order for me to correctly give my lesson and execute the subject matter—
not flawlessly but accurately—I rely on my diligence, knowledge, and
expertise. Since I place greater emphasis on the timeliness of each
presentation of my report, students are more likely to learn from me and enjoy
the learning experience, which will help them grasp the significance of the
lesson.

3) In which competencies do I need to develop more?

I focus more on creativity and classroom management, particularly when it
comes to each person's culture and beliefs. In a school where Muslims were
forbidden from interacting with or participating in any activities involving girls,
students had disadvantages and shortcomings when performing in front of the
class, especially when reenacting historical events. These are one of the plans
I'll be putting together soon to address the need to solve these issues.

4) Who are the teachers that we remember most?

I really believe that the kind teachers are the ones we remember the
most. The educator who had an impact on us is a different matter. Additionally,
the instructor who can quickly build a relationship with us. Another example is
a teacher who takes the time to explain things to us. The last person is the
teacher, who is dedicated to instructing and inspiring us to learn.
WRITE ACTION RESEARCH PROMPTS

1. OBSERVE:
In assisting my Resource Teacher, I observed such as willingness and determined
to share knowledge and especially very accommodative to student at all times and
professional competencies like recognition inside the class and coaching were least/ not
displayed as a result, student were/ class was able to work hard and independently using
their vast knowledge and gathered some important information and knowledge within
the given time or period of the class showing that the teacher and student maintain a
strong relationship when it comes to learning new facts. The student was very active
and I can say fallible by how they interact with their teacher and go along with all the
activities and lesson given to them.

2. REFLECT:
The lack of these personal traits and professional competencies (mentioned in
number 1) may caused by I think the teacher wants to promote a strong progressive
leadership and student well centered into their learning especially that it shows no
recognition in the class promoting a well fair compliment to all the student and remove
boundaries of the so called favoritism or focuses of attention to one student rather
than the whole class. I think it is one of the best way to set aside competition inside
the class and maintain a happy learning environment.
3. PLAN
I would like to address this problem (mentioned in number 2) by conducting an action
research on the impact of student acknowledgement in class on students' learning
attitudes.

4. ACT
a) The main objective of my research is How does appreciation affect a student's
ability to learn?
b) My specific research questions are: How does recognition alter the way you
approach learning? and how does it effect you knowing that not everyone was
intended to receive recognition?
c) To answer my specific research question, I would ask questions and interview
students, especially in the classroom where the scene or action occurs.
