Name of the School Observed: Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National Highschool
Location of the School: Romana Subd., San Antonio Bina City of Laguna
Date to Visit: Dec. 17, 2021

Jacobo Z. Gonzales Memorial National High school is one of the famous High
schools at Biñan City of Laguna. Jacobo is known as “trade” and having an oval. The
school got a lot of changes and became attractive. There’s a new building to
accommodate all the students when face to face classes resume. Having a water
station where students can drink freely. Enough facilities like laboratories, comfort
rooms, library to sustain the needs and learning of the students. Having a mini park
for the relaxation during break can give attractiveness to the school. The posters at
the corridor seems informative and give awareness for those people who go to
school. Due to the pandemic the floor has a line or circle to maintain a social
distancing. Before entering the school, you need a temperature and write your
information for the contact tracing.

1. How do the school campus and the classroom in particular impact the
learning of the students going to school? What are your conclusions?
 Having a good and clean surrounding in the school campus can give
impact on the student’s learning. The school administrator should
create a school that can develop on the student’s skills and interest.
Meeting the needs of the student’s learning can give motivation and
excited for every day they go to school. A school with a safe

environment. In the classroom, having wall design and posters can
give additional learning and knowledge to their life. According to the
behaviorism, we should design a school environment that can impact
on the behavior of the students.
2. How does this relate to your knowledge of child and adolescent
development/ How does this relate to your knowledge of facilitating learning?
 It has been observed that a child's environment has a significant impact
on his or her development. An environment that is conducive for
learning of the students could help them to have fun while learning
new ideas. Having access to the school facilities and laboratories
could help teachers to facilitate the learning process of student’s
phase

1. Would you like to teach in the school environment you just observed?
Why? Why not?
 I would like to teach in a public school but i think didn’t see myself
teaching in my cooperative school. I just want a thrilling experience to
teach in other cities. I want more challenge and test myself if I can
handle myself teaching in other places.

2. What kind of school campus is conducive to learning?

A school campus is conducive to learning if there’s enough
facilities and good atmosphere. A school were students feel
motivated in learning. School buildings and offices were maintained
clean and teachers, faculty and staffs were child- friendly which they
are tend to be more motivating the students than to pull them down.
3. What kind of classroom is conducive to learning?
 A kind of classroom is conducive learning if the you got the topics and
interest of the students in their learning. Having a prepared lesson,
teaching aids or visual aids. And a room that is safe for learners and
teachers.
4. In the future, how can you accomplish your answer in number 3?
 As a teacher I will not make my students feel that they were not
good enough because I know that all students have their own
strengths and weaknesses, if most of my students are not catching
up on my lessons, I will repeat the lesson with new teaching strategy.
5. Write your additional learning and insights here

 As a student-teacher and becoming a 21st century teacher, we should

use technology in our teaching. Brainstorming to in every lesson to
enjoy the topic. It is important for me us a social studies teacher. We

Board Title: Philippine History
Rationale (Purpose):
Remembering the important events in the Philippine History. Identify the
people who are belong to our history
Objectives:
Identify the people who are belong to our history
Remembering the sequencing of past events
Best features of my Proposed bulletin enhancement:
I used an Instagram template to catch the attention of the viewers. It is
common to use bright colors designs like colored papers, bond paper. That’s
why I suggest a creative way to have a good bulletin board.
Materials for aesthetic enhancement:
I use Canva to make a board display. There’s a lot of application to use and it’s
free.

1.Name at least five skills that a teacher should have to be able to come up with
effective board displays. Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
Creative: A teacher should be creative in terms of teaching strategies and activities
to get the interest of the students.
Critical thinking- The teacher must have these skills to analyze, evaluate on the
concept of the topic
Adaptability- In this modern, digital age teachers need to be flexible and able to
adapt to whatever their thrown way.
Empathy: If the teacher has a skill of this towards to students, they will learn to
handle emotions and compassionate towards each other.

Enthusiasm: A great teacher is enthusiastic about their job. The lesson encourages
students to share the same passion as they do.

2.Which of the skills you named in # I do you already have? Recall your past
experiences in making board displays. How do you practice these skills?

 The skills that I already have among the mentioned skills on number 1
are being creative, empathy and have critical thinking skills and
organizational skills. I can analyze and evaluate information to be
posted so that the design be relative to it
and lastly is the organizational skill, I can
group and arrange information in a most
possible and meaningful way.

3.Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete

steps will you take on how you can improve on or acquire
these skills?
 I need to develop an excellent grammar skill;
so that I can proof read everything that is
needed to be posted and I can confidently
speak in public using English language. Sometimes, I lose my
confidence when speaking because I run out of English words and I
think my grammar is wrong. To acquire these skills, I am listening to
audio books and English podcast and I must read more English book

Physical Environment Must be conducive for learning, conducive for learners in
many aspects considering the different kind of facilities of the school The school

In the 21st century we are not training our students to have jobs, we are

REFLECT
1.While you were observing the learners, did you recall your own experiences
when you were their age? What similarities or differences do you have with the
learners you observed?
When I observe these students, I see a younger version of myself. When I was in
class, I was just like any other preschooler: lively and cheerful. I enjoy being the
focus of attention at all times. But I prefer to play alone most of the time and never
want to play with others. As I progress in class, I begin to enjoy conversing with
others, discussing my interests, and telling them about my wildest fantasies. When
someone harassed or bullied me in elementary school, I only had a few colleagues
who made me feel better. At the time, I was a crybaby. Disappointments were too
much for me. My social skills aren't good enough, despite the fact that I've always
been a high achiever. I was impenetrable.
2.Think of a teacher you cannot forget for positive or negative reasons. How
did she/he help or not help you with your needs (physical, emotional, social
and cognitive? How did it affect you?

As I previously stated, I had a small circle of friends. And this is something that
irritates my Grade 6 teacher, because I am not a happy person. She frequently
advises me to make friends and treat others with respect. I'm not harsh, but I was
incredibly difficult to approach at the time. My teacher informed my brother, who
went out of his way to make me feel at ease around others. And it was because of
her that I began to make new friends and feel at ease among people.

Working with a broad group of students is a difficult task. Teachers must recognize
that these distinctions have an impact on students' performance. No matter how
diverse their demands are, a teacher must be able to respond to them. When
working with different groups of students, teachers must adapt their strategies and
methods. The most important thing, though, is for the teacher to accept these
variances and encourage other students to be confident in their own skin since they
are unique.

Watson has made great contributions to

psychology as well as education: Many concepts
of behaviorism are still being used in psychology
to condition and to modify behavior through
therapy and behavioral training. Watson was a
professor of psychology; he was very influential
educational psychologist. His goal was to predict
and control behavior. Emphasized the
importance of learning and the effects of the
environment on human development.
He determined that nothing was learned through instincts but rather the child is
affected by environment. He felt that parents were responsible for how their children
turned out in life because of the environment that they choose to raise them in.
Watson thought that emotional disabilities were not inherited but an outcome of
personal treatment. He believed that children should be treated as young adults.
With that being said, parents should not much show affection, believing that it may
be dangerous and detrimental to their futures, he also thought that love was
conditioned.
Watson felt that parents should prepare child for their world. For them to stop
babying and cuddling their children and that relationship should be a business
arrangement. Watson was more concentrated on child treating and how it could be
incorporated into school system.

The class is competitive, the smart students compete which answer is the most
valid and correct answer. While the others just wait until they are done. Some of
the students answer, but some don’t, but they just raise up and the teacher help
them answer. The teacher obviously calls out the students behind because she
knows that these kids are not paying attention.

ANALYZE
1. Identify the persons who play key roles in their relationships and
interactions in the classrooms. What roles do they play? Is there somebody
who appears to be the leader, a mascot/joker, an attention seeker, a little
teacher, a doubter/pessimist?

There was a joker in the class who’s always kidding and joking. There was also a
student who acts as the secretary of class even though she’s really not. The teacher
always assigns her secretary for the attendance of the class

What makes the learners assume these roles? What factors affect their
behavior?
What influences them to assume these roles are their peers, their belief that they
would be better to be this way, people’s reaction that somehow satisfy them and
their teachers’ meaningful feedback.

2.Is there anyone you observe who appear left out? Are you students who
appear “different”? Why do they appear different? Are they accepted or
rejected by the others? How is this shown?
There was no student who I’ve observe being left out or different. The students celebrate
differences and create bond with each other.

3.How does the teacher influence the class interaction considering the
individual differences of the students?

FIELD STUDY 1: OBSERVATION OF TEACHING-LEARNING IN 21

ACTUAL SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

The teacher influences the students to be supportive of each other and to respect
each other’s’ differences by being mindful and careful of their words, and to be
available for each other as friends who are willing to help and be their emotional
support. In addition, the teacher encourages the students accept and appreciate
each other’s opinion and belief about a certain matter, as well as their interest,
hobbies and preferences.

4.What strategies does the teacher use to maximize the benefits of diversity in
the classroom? How does the teacher leverage diversity?

The teacher makes sure that she is aware of students’ individual differences through
understanding their backgrounds, learning styles, hobbies and interest. The teacher
establishes friendly relationship with her students and encouraging them to be open
for communication while fostering respect in the classroom by letting them to talk
about their cultural backgrounds.

REFLECT
How did you feel being in that classroom? Did you feel a sense of
oneness or unity among the learners and between the teacher and the
learner?
As I was observing the classroom, although the students are individually different
from each other, their unity regarding acceptance and appreciation of each other had
made me feel comfortable. How the teacher manages diversity in the classroom is a
sign that she is very effective in developing teaching strategies that promotes
awareness and creating connection with diverse cultures. Evidently, the students are
empathetic and open-minded about diverse backgrounds which helped them
understand each other well. Students demonstrating confidence and independence
in the class is also a sign that the teacher is effective in fostering cultural sensitivity
in the classroom. The way they care for each other and how openly they
communicate with their teacher and how they become united in collaboration
activities made me feel a sense of oneness in the classroom.

Based on what I have gathered from the video of Mangyan students, the
following are my suggestions regarding the knowledge systems and practices
and rights of indigenous peoples in the Sitio Labo
 The DepEd Division of Mindoro must ensure that the IPED curriculum is
distributed in the mountain schools including those schools that are
exclusively for IP students.
 The DepEd Division of Mindoro must arrange effective strategies for teachers
who are struggle travelling from their houses to the mountain schools without
sacrificing the contact hours of students with their teachers.
 The DepEd Division Mindoro of should hire more teachers to teach in
indigenous people and provide them appropriate compensation.
 The DepEd Division of Mindoro must provide modern instructional materials
for the teachers to use and learners’ materials such as textbooks.
 The curriculum for indigenous framework should emphasize valuing of culture
and tradition of the indigenous peoples through integrating real-life concepts
in each lesson.

REFLECT
Reflect based on your actual visit or videos that you have watched.
1. What new things did you learn about indigenous people?

Based on the video, I watched, the eagerness to learn to avoid being

fooled by the other people and make their dreams come true. I also
learned there’s a lot of hinder in their school, lack of materials but still
the continue their study even it is the basic skills.

2. What did you appreciate most from you experience in visiting the school
with indigenous? Why?

I admire the teachers who are pursuing and staying to indigenous people.
Even they got promotion, still they stick and change their mind
because they know that these people needed them.

3. For indigenous learners, as a future teacher, I promise these three

things:
3.1 Be open to and respect indigenous peoples by being culturally sensitive
and effective communicator, that influence other people. Being
appreciative and inspiration for indigenous people
3.2 Uphold and celebrated their culture beliefs and practices by having school
activities that related about the culture and traditions. Aligning their lesson
according to their needs
3.3 Advocate for Indigenous peoples by educating by supporting of the
development of IP, enhancing IP curriculum of DEPED/CHED. that can
help to preserve their diversity through the curriculum.

REFLECT
Reflect on the various classroom rules set by the Resource Teacher.
Will you have the same rules? If not, what rules are you going to employ? Explain
your answer.
I can establish my own instructions. First, gaining their attention by greetings. Next,
recall the discussions before the objectives. Presenting my materials or visual aids.
Provided guiding learning, elicit performance, and providing feedback. All over my
schooling life, almost all the rules that I’ve encountered are always the same and for
me I will have the rules as my teachers does. It only differs on the implementation of
the rules. If the rules are well implemented, the rules will be followed very well and if
not the other way around.

ANALYZE
Analyze the different elements of personal/physical classroom
management and answer the following question.
1. How does the voice of the teacher affect classroom instruction?
We don’t like high pitch and low pitch voice when we are teaching. We wan a
voice that is modulated that is heard at the back. It is difficult for teachers with
hundreds of students per class. that’s why we need to be consider for the teachers.
Teachers need to take care of their voice because it is the foundation of their work.
2. How does the punctuality of the teacher affect classroom discipline?
As a teacher, you should be punctual. Be on time in the school. If the teacher is
absent, prepare a valid reason because it will affect the students who you handle.
3.Why do we need to check on the physical aspects of classroom management?
Remember that the school is consider as the 2nd home of the learner. Establish
manners to keep clean and organize. They will be used it in their home.

REFLECT
Reflect on the aspects of personal and classroom management.
What does this statement mean to you as a future teacher? Explain.
“No amount of good instruction will come out without effective classroom
management.”
This statement means that, I should allow the learner to be conditioned to the routine
I do. Different strategies like prayer should be there. It is important in Basic
Education. Picking up the small pieces under your chair a usual routine. Establishing
routine, become smoother because the classroom routines are in conditioned. If a
teacher in a certain classroom doesn't know how to effectively manage a classroom,
then he/she will also not be able to formulate and give any good instruction that
sometimes leads to the failure of the students to learn.
What are your plans in ensuring effective classroom management?
Having an effective classroom management starts with the implement or of rules in
the classroom. So, to ensure that you need to be a good role model to all and be
virtuous in all aspects.

ANALYZE
Analyze the checklist you have accomplished and answer the given questions.
1. How many strategies were employed by the Resource Teacher? Did these
contribute to better classroom management?
The Resource teacher employed 1 strategy only which is discussion. Due to
pandemic, all classes was conducted through online and only limited for 1hr class.

2.What were not used by the Resource Teacher? Were these important? What
should have been used instead? Explain.
The traditional classroom management were not used because of the virtual class.
Resource teacher must use a ice breaker to get the attention and interest of the
students.

REFLECT
As a future teacher, reflect on the observations then answer the given
question.
1.What classroom management strategies do I need to employ to respond to
diverse types of learners?
Student must feel that he/she belong to the classroom. Don’t discriminate out
students based on their race, gender, or socioeconomic background. Education is a
great equalizer, once a student enter inside the classroom, he/she must not feel
oppressed. But must feel the atmosphere of growth.

ANALYZE
Which of the seven types curriculum in the school setting is easy to find?
Which is difficult to observe? Why?
Are these all found in the school setting? How do curricula relate to one another?
All of them are found in the school setting, and
the supported curriculum is easily found among
the seven types of curriculum in the school. Many
resources are now available and can be found on
the internet. There are numerous websites where
we can obtain information, but we must exercise
caution in order to identify false information. When
searching for information, always include the
references. Is it difficult to observe is the hidden
curriculum, it is unintended to find and we cannot
measure this curriculum.
Because it is designed by professionals for our
teachers and students, seven types of curriculum
are related to one another. Professionals seek information in order to plan the
curriculum, teachers carry out the teachings and learning outcomes, and students
apply what they have learned in real life.

REFLECT
Make a reflection on the diagram that you have drawn.
Curriculum, in my opinion, is the whole picture of education. It includes the
teaching philosophy of a school and a teacher, the way the subject is taught in the
classroom, the supplements used in assistance of teaching, the attitudes the school,
the teachers and the administrators bring to the table, and the knowledge of the
subject areas in the minds of the teachers. Curriculum can also be described as “a
desired goal or set of values that can be activated through a development process
culminating in experiences for students” or as “the planned and guided learning
experience and intended outcomes, formulated through systematic reconstruction f
knowledge and experience, under the auspices of the school, for the learners’
continuous and willful growth in personal-social competence.
Curriculum includes what our standards of learning are, and the models by
which the teachers facilitate the learning of those standards in the classroom. Some
definitions of curriculum are very direct and small, as seen above, but I believe that
curriculum must include every aspect of education at some point in its definition
because it does cover the very broad spectrum in educating people.

The Miniscule School Curriculum: The Lesson, A Closer Look

ANALYZE
Write a paragraph based on the data you gathered using these key questions
How does the teacher whom you observed compare to the ideal characteristics or
competencies of global quality teachers?
 She facilitate the learners by giving them a topic and discuss the topic.
 Giving advice to them in executing properly their topic.
 She advice her learners to prioritize their education to have a good future.
Was the lesson implemented as planned? Describe.
Yes, the lesson implemented as planned before the class. Aside lesson plans,
quizzes and activity was made by her.
Can you describe the disposition of the teacher after the lesson was taught? Happy
and eager? Satisfied and contented? Disappointed and exhausted?
It shows that the teacher enjoying her class and happy . She is confident to
discuss her lesson and delivered it properly. She shows an attribute as a 21st
century teacher.
Can you describe the majority of students' reactions after the lesson was taught?
Confused? Happy and eager? Contented? No reactions at all.
Students are happy and eager to learn when conducting a class. They participate
and attentive during recitation. They can discuss topic that are assigned to them.

REFLECT
Based on your observations and tasks in Activity 2 how will you prepare your lesson
plan? Make a short paragraph on the topic.
How do I write a lesson plan?
Stage 1: The starting point for any lesson plan must be, ‘What do I want learners to
learn?
If you begin by answering that question, and call your answer a ‘Learning Objective’,
then your planning will stay focused.
Stage 2: Your course documents will include a standard format for writing lesson
plans.Your school will have its own version, not necessarily the same
Stage 3 : Assessment: How will you know that any learning has taken place. You
can’t just assume it, so you must at some point, or points, during the lesson build in
opportunity to check students understanding.
