Simple Past
O verbo regular, no Simple Past, sofre alteração em uma frase afirmativa. As terminações
podem ser d, ed ou ied. Abaixo estão alguns exemplos:
• I Played basketball yesterday. (Eu joguei basquete ontem).
Obs.: Veja que o verbo jogar (played) tem o acréscimo de “ed” no final.
Veja mais um exemplo:
• she worked the day before yesterday. (Ela trabalhou anteontem).
Obs.: note que o verbo trabalhar (work) sofreu o acréscimo de "ed", tornando a frase no
passado.
Veja outro exemplo de um verbo na afirmativa:
• He studied Spanish for the test. (Ele estudou espanhol para o teste).
Obs.: O verbo estudar study também sofreu alteração no final. Note que foi retirado o "y" e
acrescentou-se o "ied". Em suma, os verbos regulares terminados em y e precedido de
consoante, elimina-se o "y" e inclui-se o "ied".

I usually get up early but this morning I got up at 9:30.
C- Some verbs are irregular ( = not regular). The past simple is not –ed. Here are
some importante irregular verbs:
