a) What do you understand by the term ionization energy? Which atom should have a
smaller first ionization energy; oxygen or sulfur? Explain your answer

b) What is the significant of proton number?

c) Explain how the radius of monoatomic cation compares with that of its parent atom.

d) Arrange the following species in order if increasing size:

e) What is Fajans' rule? Use the rule to explain the difference in the properties for each of
