Descriptive Information : Some 2022 MY Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicles may have been built with shifter
assemblies that have insufficient heat-treating on the shifter pawls.
The suspect period began on February 9, 2022, when shifter assemblies with
improperly heat-treated pawls were introduced into vehicle production, and ended
on June 30, 2022, when shifter assemblies with improperly heat-treated pawls were
no longer used in vehicle production. The suspect period was determined using
supplier traceability and vehicle production records.
Similar vehicles not included in this recall are not equipped with a column shifter, or
were produced before or after the suspect period.
The total affected vehicles for this model is 3,420.

improperly heat-treated pawls were introduced into vehicle production, and ended
on June 29, 2022, when shifter assemblies with improperly heat-treated pawls were
no longer used in vehicle production. The suspect period was determined using

Description of Defect :
Description of the Defect : Shifter pawls that are not properly heat-treated may bend during use, which
may prevent the shifter from properly engaging the DRIVE position detent.

Description of the Safety Risk : A shifter that has improperly engaged the DRIVE position detent may slip out
of the DRIVE position while driving, resulting in an unexpected loss of motive
power which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
Description of the Cause : NR
Identification of Any Warning Driver may notice a bent or misaligned shifter lever, or a difficulty selecting
that can Occur : gears.

Chronology :
• On September 27, 2022, the FCA US LLC ("FCA US") Technical Safety and Regulatory Compliance ("TSRC")
organization opened an investigation into 2022 MY Dodge Charger Pursuit vehicles and 2022 MY Dodge
Durango Pursuit vehicles for loss of motive power.
• From September 2022, through November 2022, FCA US TSRC reviewed vehicle records and met with FCA US
engineering to review supplier test results to understand the performance of improperly heat-treated shifter
pawls.
• As of November 11, 2022, FCA US is aware of zero customer assistance records, zero warranty claims, and
zero field reports potentially related to this issue for all markets.
• As of November 11, 2022, FCA US is not aware of any accidents or injuries potentially related to this issue for
all markets.
• On November 17, 2022, FCA US determined, through the Vehicle Regulations Committee, to conduct a
voluntary safety recall of the affected vehicles.
Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : FCA US will conduct a voluntary safety recall on all affected vehicles to
replace the shifter assembly.
FCA US has a longstanding policy and practice of reimbursing owners who
have incurred the cost of repairing a problem that subsequently becomes
the subject of a field action. To ensure consistency, FCA US, as part of the
owner letter, will request that customers send the original receipt and/or
other adequate proof of payment to the company for confirmation of the
expense.
How Remedy Component Differs The remedy component is a shifter assembly with a properly heat-treated
from Recalled Component : shifter pawl.
