The document outlines a lesson plan on waste management for students. The plan includes objectives, content, learning resources, procedures, and an evaluation. It discusses the basics of waste management and the 5Rs approach of reduce, reuse, recycle, recover, and repair. Examples are provided of different waste management practices and students are quizzed to identify the type of waste management illustrated in each example.

IV. PROCEDURES
A. ACTIVITY (stimulation)

Write the word “segregation” on the board. Let students give words or phrases that
are associated with the given word. Write the responses of the students on the
board.

B. ANALYSIS (questions based on the activity given)

Based on the words or phrases given, let students define segregation. Ask:
How can segregation be applied in waste disposal?
a. Some words that can be associated with segregation are classifying, separation, sorting, grouping, and arranging.
b. Segregation is the process of separating things according to their properties or characteristics.
c. Segregation may be applied in waste disposal by separating biodegradable from nonbiodegradable materials.

C. ABSTRACTION (LESSON PROPER)

The teacher will give proper discussion about Waste Management

Waste Management
 It is the process of collecting, transporting, and disposing wastes or garbage.
 It involves minimizing solid wastes by identifying their other possible purposes.
 It is governed by the 5Rs: reuse, recycle, reduce, recover, and repair.

1. To reduce means decreasing the amount of waste produced.

2. To reuse means to find another way for the material to be useful again.
3. To recycle means turning a nonreusable material into another useful material.
4. To repair means to fix something that is broken to make it useful again.
5. To recover means to retrieve energy in a material that is no longer reusable, recyclable, or repairable.

D. APPLICATION (QUIZ/ES)
Instructions: Write T if the statement is true and F if it is false.

1. Waste management involves the collection only of household waste materials.

2. The principles of waste management are governed by the 5Rs—reduce, reuse, recycle,
repair, and recover.

3. When wastes generated in every household are reduced, there will be less garbage
that goes to the landfill.

4. The most effective way to reduce waste is to exercise impulsive buying.

5. If the production of waste is unavoidable, find another way for some of it to be useful
again.

6. Reusing materials does not only reduce waste but also reduces the initial resources
that are used in producing the material.

7. Recycling is refusing to buy new material by fixing it first.

8. Most nonbiodegradable materials are not recyclable.

9. All wastes that go straight to the landfill possess energy that may be retrieved with the
help of technology.

10. To repair means to retrieve energy in a material that is no longer reusable,

recyclable, or repairable.
EVALUATION

Identify the type of waste management shown in each practice. On the blank,
write reduce, reuse, recycle, repair, or recover.
