Position : Trainee Engineering Geologist

Scope of Work

 Geological mapping includes Face mapping & bench mapping also 3D mapping in the Tunnels
made by Advanced (NATM) method of Tunneling.
 Verify rock mass classification (Class A-E) by RMR, GSI & UCS Chart and design primary
support type following specification (Drainage, Umbrella arch, Fore poling, fiber steel
shotcrete, rock bolt SN & IBO steel Rib) etc.
 RMR value for support including Shotcrete, Rock bolts/Anchors, Pull-out Of Rock bolts
/Anchors, Grouting consolidation, contact and curtain grouting)
 Borehole investigations along the river channel to assess the foundation level and in- situ
permeability of rock mass.
 Exploratory drifting on both the abutments, intake and power house cavern to access
geological condition and to conduct various in-situ tests.
 Monitor and construction of power house drift & transformer cavern according to the
specification and drawing of all Tunnel and underground work.
 Verify rock mass classification (Class I-V) give Q value and design primary support type
following specification (Drainage, Umbrella arch, Forepoling, fiber steel shotcrete, rock bolt
SN& IBO steel Rib) etc. Design following Methods, NATM and DBM.

Training Program Attended

 Attended Training Program on Aquifer Information System and Management Plan from
Ministry of Water Resources. Central Ground Water Board and North Western Himalayan
Region Jammu under the aegis of Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water Training and Research
Institute, Raipur in February 2013.
 I have completed one week Tier 2nd Training Course on Aquifer Information System and
Management Plan from Ministry of Water Resources, Central Ground Water Board, and North
Western Himalayan Region Jammu under aegis of Rajiv Gandhi National Ground Water
 Training and Research Institute, Raipur. Various field tests were carried out during the training
period.

tests, etc.
 Geological mapping of different project components.
 Bore Hole / Core Logging.
 Preparation of Geological Sections & Plans.
 Rock Mass Classification using Q- method, GSI, NGI & Rock Support Systems in different rock
mass conditions
 Site selection for different major project components.
 Portal Stabilization, Tunneling & Under Ground Works.
 Face Logging.
 3-D logging / Tunnel Logging.
 DBM Face mapping and rock mass Classification.
 Rock Mass Excavability RME.
 Geotechnical Instrumentation monitoring in Tunnels.
 New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM)
 Over break Approval, Estimation of Q- valve, and RMR valve for support including Shotcrete,
Rock bolts/Anchors, Pull-out of Rock bolts /Anchors, Grouting consolidation, contact and
curtain grouting)
 Drilling (face drilling, design of drilling pattern Estimation Powder factor /charge factor)
 Installation/Reading of the instruments.
 Testing, Data analyzing and Reporting.
