Introduction to Digital and Internet Technologies in Business and Management1

Previously web presence meant only having a website. But just as the internet has changed the way we live our day-to-day lives, its also revolutionising the way many business organisations operates. The internet and more broadly, digital technology, offers the potential to streamline different business processes, as well as to improve customer and supplier interactions. Organisation that moves quickly adapt with these new technologies can get a competitive advantage. The Internet is the most transformative technology in history, reshaping business, media, entertainment, and society in astonishing ways and just now being tapped to transform education. It has the capacity to change everythingthe way we work, learn and play. Everybody loves e-mail and the ability to retrieve information about so many things. Despite early misconceptions about credit-card security, now it is convenient and economical to purchase products and services online. Companies are using the Internet to make direct connections with their customers. Others are using secure Internet connections to improve and maintain relations with some of their trading partners. The Internet is helping companies to lower costs dramatically across their supply and demand chains, take their customer service into a different forms, enter new markets, create additional revenue streams and redefine their business relationships. Today, no business can survive or grow without the involvement of internet and digital technologies in their working. Today management is more IT focused and manages different aspects of their business like integration of different departments, routine decision making, customer retention and many more. This requirement of the business is now being offered under the new approach known as Internet Technologies. Companies are now giving more emphasis on IT infrastructure. This means that any business is survive only because of involvement of internet and digital technologies in their working. In order to manage the current requirement of the business and to handle

Internal Assessment: Marks 30 Case presentation divided into two parts like case solving and case presentation. Quizzes A mix of un-announced and announced quizzes to be conducted from time to time during the each term. Group discussion/presentation Students to be called randomly from the group for making presentations. Attendance to be given due weightage on their participation in the class.

Assignment of making presentation on summary of an article of a magazine, article of a journal (EBSCO).

Mid Trimester: Marks 20


Mid- Trimester examination shall be of two hour duration and shall be a combination of Objective, short theory questions and numerical problems.

End -Trimester Examination: Marks 50


End-Trimester examination shall be of three hours duration. The examination paper shall have objective & theory questions, short and long numerical problems.
