Surge Arresters with Insulation Piercing
Connector, SE 45 and SE 46
Overvoltage protection is
needed e.g. for electricity distribution and supply, consumer in house
supplies and distribution
transformers due to lightning strokes and switching
actions. The most effective
means of protection is the
use of surge arresters in
the vicinity of electricity
equipment.
Thanks to the special construction of the connectors, Ensto surge
arresters are screwed to the lower
part of the connector giving thus a
proper electrical connection.
Connectors are equipped with
shear head bolts and can be
installed using standard tools (no
need for a torque wrench). The
design enables live line installation,
as the shear heads are insulated
from the connector body. A wide
range of different electrical parameters are offered.
Replacing a defective surge
arrester is easily done: there is
no need to unscrew the connector
from the conductor, you only screw
the defective surge arrester off and
a new one on.
Application
Protection of low voltage networks
against lightning and switching overvoltages. From low voltage side
of a transformer up to measuring
instruments. The surge arresters
can be connected to all kinds of low
voltage overhead lines.

Connector SE 45
SE 45 series includes a new
piercing connector specially designed for surge
arrester. This connector is
used when installing the
surge arrester on insulated
LV overhead lines. It can be
installed on insulated Al/Cu
conductors with cross section range 10 - 150 mm2.
