TRAINING DESIGN

Title: Basic Course on Computer Applications for AEWs

Duration: November 18-20, 2008

Venue: Agricultural Training Institute Region IV-A

UPLB, College, Laguna

Rationale:

Computers have become so important from the past decade that many institutions become
handicapped without the desktop systems. The skills in computers help the people finish their
work at ease. Nowadays it is possible to access your bank accounts (for e.g. transfer money
between accounts), book your travel air tickets , transfer documents between places through
computers aided with Internet. Many people are working from their houses and do not attend
their offices with the help of laptops and desktops where they will be having access to their
office LANs. Earning from online jobs have become very common. The computers are necessary
for entertainment purposes too. The people skilled in computers need not search for jobs
badly. Being skilled in computers reduces the work load of people and help them to work at
ease.

In agricultural extension , the use of computer applications is deemed necessary to effectively

facilitate the activities. Communication as well as presentation skills of AEWs will be greatly
enhanced using the appropriate ICT applications. Operations and management functions of
different units can be upgraded using basic information on database system. The provision and
exchange of information using the web can also be of great help on the capability of our
extension worker in their delivery of services.
