Executive Summary
This internship report is about the Fujifilm Pakistan Pvt Ltd which is consisting of the brief
introduction about the organization’s hierarchy, products and services, their departments
and its functions, organization culture and a segment about my learning’s at Fujifilm. There
is also recommendation and conclusion which I think that there should be some changes for
the improvement organization’s culture and the employees’ relationship.
There is also a brief introduction about the organization’s history and its development, also
the future planning regarding the products and services which they aim to provide to their
customer’s and consumers.

1.1.4 SCOPE OF INDUSTRY IN MARKET
As Fujifilm Pakistan is a digital imaging or imaging industry which offers wide range of
imaging services. Fujifilm not only offers the photographic imaging services to its customers
and consumers but also provide another branch of imaging services i.e. Medical imaging ad
amateur imaging. The scope of imaging industry is broad and Fujifilm is the leading imaging
industry in Pakistan as there isn’t another imaging industry in Pakistan who not only offers
photographic/camera imaging but also medical and amateur division as well. Pakistan has a
large number of consumers of photographic sector and medical sector in all its way has
broader role not only in Pakistan but globally it has become essential need of the people.
The use of digital imaging (photography) has changed the way we interacted with our
environment over the years.
Fujifilm owns the status of pioneer in any fields as Fuji from the very outset has introduced
many products and services for the first time in Pakistan and throughout the world. Fuji
introduced the disposable camera in 1986. Finally, Sharp introduced the world’s first
camera phone in 2000. Digital imaging has demonstrated its worth in a variety of fields from
education to medicine. As digital projectors, screens, and graphics has become a part of our
daily lives. The field of medical imaging, a branch of digital imaging that seeks to assist in
the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, is growing at a rapid rate. There is a program called
Digital Imaging in Communications and Medicine (DICOM) that is changing the medical
world as we know it. DICOM is not only a system for taking high quality images of the
aforementioned internal organs, but also is helpful in processing those images. It is a
universal system that incorporates image processing, sharing, and analyzing for the

convenience of patient comfort and understanding. This service is all encompassing and is
beginning a necessity digital photograph may be created directly from a physical scene by
a camera or similar device. Alternatively, a digital image may be obtained from another
image in an analog medium, such as photographs, photographic film, or printed paper, by
an image scanner or similar device. The benefit of digital imaging is the process enables
easy access of photographs and word documents. Digital imaging also benefits the medical
world because it “allows the electronic transmission of images to third-party providers. The
process “is also environmentally friendly since it does not require chemical
processing”. Digital imaging is also frequently used to help document and record historical,
scientific and personal life events.

2.1.1 COMPANY PROFILE/BACKGROUND
FUJIFILM PAKISTAN (PVT) LIMITED, The emergence of Fujifilm Pakistan (Pvt) Limited,
(FUJIFILM PAKISTAN) (with the original name of Wasti Enterprises) dates back to June 1967.
It started as a small business firm, which initiated its activities by importing X- Ray films
from Fujifilm Corporation Tokyo, with limited operations in Karachi. It was in the year 1989
that Fujifilm Corporation Tokyo felt their allies in Pakistan deserve more according to their
efforts and performance, therefore, Fuji Tokyo authorized FUJIFILM PAKISTAN to use the
name of Fujifilm Pakistan (Pvt) Limited as a token of well-deserved recognition and
appreciation from the principals in Japan. With the visionary and strategic approach of the
FUJIFILM PAKISTAN Management, supplemented by their rich experience in the
photographic industry, sheer hard work, untiring efforts of the team members and the high
quality products, Fujifilm Pakistan continued its successful journey expanding its network
throughout the country.
2.1.2 CURRENT STATUS IN MARKET
Today, Fujifilm Pakistan has its principal office at Karachi with its regional offices in Lahore,
Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Gujrat, Sahiwal, Rahimyar
Khan, Gujranwala & Sargodha. These offices provide exclusive services and quality products
for personal and professional “Imaging” needs of the customers.
Along with offices in different cities, there is also a modern warehouse to meet the ever-
increasing demands of the customers. FUJIFILM PAKISTAN is benefited with new products
and latest innovative technologies due to the backup of Fujifilm Corporation Tokyo, who
spends around US$ 6.0 million/day on R&D. Remarkable advancements in this sphere, have
been made especially in recent times with the introduction of Digital Imaging Technologies
in Pakistan.

2.1.3 DIVISIONS OF ORGANIZATION
The major divisions of Fujifilm Pakistan are as follows:
▪ GRAPHIC DIVISION: The print media and textile industries are highly dependent on graphic
films, PS plates, Digital Plates (Violet and Thermal) and allied chemicals. FUJIFILM PAKISTAN
has been supplying consumables to the graphic industry and currently holds a market share
of approximately 20%, especially when Chinese and local brands are dominant due to
extremely cheap pricing.
FUJIFILM PAKISTAN is the pioneer in bringing CTP (Computer to plate) technology in
Pakistan in 2004 and currently holds 25% equipment market share, with remarkable
achievement of 100% business of flagship newspaper of the country, Daily Dawn. With the
above of Digital technology, the world has moved ahead considerably. Therefore there are
tremendous potentials in Pakistan to modernize its printing industry. The future is CTP and
Inkjet Presses. Pakistan has only 32 CTPs installed as compared to 2000 Units in India. There
is lot of room to grow and move in the direction of digitization of the printing industry of
Pakistan.
▪ MEDICAL DIVISION: Conventional and Digital X-Ray films are all contributing towards better
diagnostic facilities in the country. Fuji Pakistan has been the pioneer of introducing its state
of the art FCR (Fuji Computed Radiography) and PACS (Picture Archiving Communication
System) technology to major hospitals of Pakistan. With market share of over 50%. Fuji
Pakistan is instrumental in contributing to the improvement of health facilities in the
country.
FUJIFILM PAKISTAN has taken initiative in digitizing the Medical Industry by selling more
than 350 Units of FCR. A specific model of small FCR unit, called the PRIMA (Suited ideally
for Pakistan market), was introduced for small clinics and hospitals. FUJIFILM PAKISTAN is
placed 6th in the world in selling these units. Next potential product is DR (Direct
Radiography) which will reduce the X-Ray process time, to only 10 seconds, which is one
third of the current time. This shift in technology will help in reducing the agony of waiting
for the patients and additionally provide superb quality results.

▪ AMATEUR DIVISION: This division deals with Digital Still Cameras, Digital Minilabs and color
print services from various locations throughout the country. Despite the failure of major
photo imaging manufacturers, Fuji has been successful in keeping pace with the changing
technology to provide value added solutions to the consumers. FUJIFILM PAKISTAN is again
maintaining a healthy market share in the industry. There is a very strong emphasis on
Human Resource development. Technical and marketing training is a continuous affair at
Fujifilm Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. FUJIFILM PAKISTAN has a complete computerized online system
of sales, inventory and receivables. The system has totally been developed in-house and is
based on Oracle. FUJIFILM PAKISTAN proudly claims to have the best and most qualified
team of technical associates of imaging industry, working to the full satisfaction of its
customers. Currently Fujifilm Pakistan (Pvt) Limited enjoys the distinction of being the
market leaders in the Imaging Industry.

2.5 Brief Introduction of all the Departments
▪ HR Department
It involves the planning for the future and finding out how many employees will be needed in the future
by the business and what types of skills should they possess.
It depends on the following factors
• The number of people leaving the job
• The projected growth in sales of the business
• Technological changes
• Productivity level of the workers
HR Department is also involved in designing the Job analysis and Job description for the prospective
vacancies. HR Department is also involved in conducting market surveys and determining the wages and
salaries for different position in an organization. This decision may be taken in consultation with top
management and the Finance department. Another responsibility is HR department is to recruit the best
people for the organization. Once the employees are recruited, the HR Department has to review their
performance on a regular basis through proper performance appraisals. HR department is constantly
keeping a watch over the employees of the organization. In order to improve the efficiency level of the
employees they have to undergo regular trainings and development programs. All trainings and
development needs are carried out by this department. Training might include on the job or off the job
training. HR Department has to take firm actions against employees who are not following the
organizational code of conduct, rules and regulations. This can result in the dismissal of the employee.
▪ Strategic and Business Analytics Unit
Analytical & Strategic Unit is made to build analytical models and solutions to generate business
intelligence and insights to improve the quality, productivity and effectiveness business related services.
This Unit is also responsible for the Preparation of detailed response/recovery plans and arrangements
to ensure continuity of operations under adverse conditions.
This Unit also involves in Business performance review to know how the different areas business are
performing to help in assessing where our business is strong, where it is weaker and factors we can
change for the better. This is how they are facilitating the business to manage performance proactively
and efficiently.

Another task of this Unit is to work for growth and expansion of business by identifying new business
opportunities or by spotting out possible ways to improve performance.
▪ Marketing Group
This department serves as a beacon for a company, guiding it on which product, pricing, promotional
and distribution strategies to use. Professionals employed in this department are usually highly creative
and have many duties. One primary duty of a marketing department is obtaining customer feedback.
This function is usually the responsibility of marketing research managers or analysts. Marketing
departments help to establish prices for products and services.
▪ Accounts & Financials
This department provides accounting services and financial support to the organization. The
department's accountants review the records of each department to determine the company's financial
position and any changes required to run the organization cost effectively. There is also a main function
of accounts payable, receivables, payroll, budgeting, inventory, fixed assets and all other financial
elements.
2.6 Comments
Overall organization chart is good and the employees work accordingly. Professionals and executives are
so creative and they know how to market a product with retailers, wholesalers and well as direct with
the customers. Conclusively workforce put all his efforts to present the desired and expected outcomes
and results.

3.1 Plan of Internship
The plan of my internship is to gain knowledge and exercise all my learning and theories learnt
during my academic life. It was a great pleasure to work who a well-known Tokyo based
multinational organization where Fujifilm Pakistan is working as a distributor but seems like having
own world of business.
Worked with Business Strategic & Analytics Unit explored some hidden skills of analysis. This
department is basically responsible for the analysis of the business and identifying the strong and
weak areas. Highlight all the weak areas on which concerned departments have to work on for the
improvement and increasing the business and generate more business. Analysis gives the crystal
clear picture if the business where we stand on and the business analysts are always engaged in
identifying and exploring the new ways of overcoming the weak areas that how to recover the
business. They also take new initiatives and re-engineer the existing processes, and present the
existing limitations on the process, problem statements and proposed solutions with the list of
benefits that how we can re-engineer the process with the available resources.
I started the internship program at Fujifilm Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd. on 06.06.2015 till 17.07.2015.
The department in which I got the training is the hiring & training Department- HR, training officer
provided the 3 working days training due to the time period of internship. In this duration he
informed me about the different departments of organization and the roles and responsibilities of
the each individual department. He further guided me about the code of conduct policy and ethical
standards of the firm. I further started learning curving with the business analysts who educated me
about the processes, SOP (Standard Operating Process), analysis, and presentations as per business
requirement.

4.1 Training Program
The reason for selecting Fujifilm Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd is that the firm is globally recognized and well-
known for its innovation. The organization has the wide range of products and providing not only
related products and services but also provides huge range of other products. Fujifilm also deals in
import and export. They export their products to Singapore, Germany and few other countries.
They not only offer the wide range of cameras in which Fujifilm is the pioneer but also offers the
Medical division to the Medical section. They are the most trusted ones for their customers and
have very strong relationships with domestic and international customers.
Fujifilm will soon launch the innovative and very update technology of endoscopy in medical
division. In graphics division digital camera is about to launch with unique features than ever, which
is non- compatible for the competitors. They are also launching the graphic developing machine.
It will benefit my career goals as now I am aware about the organizational processes, analysis that
how to make analysis with the available data from the multiple departments and make the analysis
on a particular subject.

5.1 Future Prospects of the Organization
The organization aims to explore more innovative products as innovation is the slogan of
the organization. They aim to create new technologies, products and services that inspire
and excite people everywhere.
They are going to launch

As the company is working on many other projects but unable to share the details or the majors
of the projects as it is confidential and company has refused to share the list of the upcoming

6.1 Conclusion
The company is not only deals within its nature of work i.e. Photography but also offering
wide range of Medical Division. They also works for the welfare society and makes frequent
donations and charity to the well-known hospital of Pakistan Machines and equipment like
CT Scan, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, X-Ray Films and any other products are under donation to
provide the maximum services in terms of treatment to the less-privilege people. Fujifilm is
the leading organization in Pakistan. The most Professional photographers prefer to use
Fuji’s professional camera range which gives the remarkable results. They also own the
number of labs which are engaging in the development of the photographs. Fuji also deals
with retailers, wholesalers and with direct customer. Very big client are the regular
customers of Fuji who use to import/export with Fujifilm due to its innovative range of
products.
Fujifilm’s employees are very professional, creative minded who knows the nature of the
company and they are aware about the culture of the organization. Fuji always tries much
as they can facilitate the employees and provide them maximum opportunities.

7.1 Recommendations
• Fujifilm should advertise the products to make the public aware about the
technology they are offering to the general public.
• Employees should take follow up of all the issues and concerns until they find the
long term solution
• Staff should ensure the ratio of benefits and scope of project after its
commencement
• Marketing of the products can increase the demand of the products and services
• Increase in revenue by the proper marketing
• System should be centralized through centralized database tracking module instead
of maintaining individual MIS
• Should fasten the promotion process to retain the employees and decrease the
turnover
• Fujifilm should increase the motivation programs for employees for their career
development
• Fujifilm should arrange in-house and cross functional training sessions for employees to
keep them aware about the new product and services
