Genetic Engineering

Genetic engineering is a process that modifies the genes of an organism by transferring genes from one organism to another, creating genetically modified organisms (GMOs). While genetic engineering in agriculture can increase crop yields and make plants more resistant to pests and disease, providing benefits to growing populations, it may also create stronger organisms with mutations that harm species or cause unpredicted allergic reactions in people from animal genes inserted into plants or other toxic changes.

Genetic engineering is a biotechnological process, it helps modify and improve the genetic traits

of a particular organism. It is also known as genetic modification. It is done by manipulating genes and
identifying its desired one. It transfers to another organism. The genetically modified organism (GMO),
GMO crop, or transgenic organism is the product of this process. Some benefits of genetic
engineering in agriculture are increased crop yields, reduced costs for food or drug production,
reduced need for pesticides, enhanced nutrient composition and food quality, resistance to
pests and disease, greater food security, and medical benefits to the world's growing
population. Genetic engineering may create stronger, healthier plants and animals. It may also
create more plants and animals with mutations or birth defects that can harm the species.

Inserting genes from an animal into a plant could create social or spiritual problems for some
lifestyles. It is even possible that biotechnology could cause organisms to become toxic to
humans. Certain changes in a plant or animal could cause unpredicted allergic reactions in
some people which, in its original form, did not occur. Other changes could result into the
toxicity of an organism to humans or other organisms.
