SUPPORT PROCEDURE Software Migration Paths for FC4700 (phase 4 or
higher), CX600, and mixed environments

In many cases, a customer may request that you install a new software component or upgrade an existing one. The
tasks below explain what other components you must also upgrade to accommodate that software change. For
detailed installation instructions, see the Procedure Generator and CLAR-PSP-014.
Important: This document does not include required HBA driver revisions or switch firmware revisions.
Notes:
1) “Install Navisphere” means:
a.) Install 6.X SP agent on FC4700 or 6.X off array support
b.) Install 6.X Agent/CLI on all hosts
c.) Install 6.X CLARalert
d.) Install 6.X Navisphere applications (Analyzer)
2) “Install Phase 4 /4B or Core Software” means:
a.) Installing all array components at the new revision level
b.) Installing the new revision of ADMsnap if that is in use.
I am installing a new FC4700 (Phase 4) or installing Phase 4 code on an existing
FC4700 to get True64 cluster support
• You must also install Navisphere 6.0.5 Navisphere Management Server and UI (if purchased) on the array
I am installing Navisphere 6.x for web management access or migrate from
Navisphere 4.X/5.X
a. For an FC4700, phase 4:
• You must also install Phase 4 code on all FC4700s; also install Navisphere Management Server and GUI (if
purchased) on at least one FC4700
b. For an FC4700, phase 4B:
• You must also install Phase 4B code on all FC4700s; also install Navisphere Management Server and GUI
(if purchased) versions 6.1 on at least one FC4700
c. If the customer does not have an FC4700 in the environment:
• You must also install Navisphere off-array support (version 6.1) on a Windows server and manage the non-
FC4700 through a portal.

I am installing PowerPath to take advantage of its features or migrate from ATF
a. For an FC4700, pre-phase 4B:
• You must also install ph4 code or higher on all FC4700s
• You must also install Navisphere Management Server 6.05
b. For an FC4700, phase 4B:
• You must also install Navisphere Management Server 6.1
c. If the customer does not have an FC4700 in the environment:
• PowerPath hosts cannot access non-FC4700 (FC4500, FC5300) arrays in a SAN until Q4
d. For a CX600:
• You must install PowerPath on all hosts accessing the CX600 (Sun, Windows, and NetWare currently
supported with PowerPath)
I am installing a new CX600
• You must install PowerPath on Sun, Windows, and NetWare hosts accessing CX600; all other OSs can run
ATF.
• You must also install Navisphere 6.1.
• PowerPath hosts cannot access non-FC4700 arrays in a SAN until Q4
I am installing a new CX600 into an environment with an FC4700 and an
FC4500/FC5300
• You must install phase 4B code on all FC4700s being accessed by PowerPath hosts.
• You must also install Navisphere Management Server 6.1 on the FC4700.
• Use the FC4700 as a portal to manage the FC4500.
• Hosts running PowerPath cannot access the FC4500
