      A grateful nation remembers the great freedom fighter Netaji
Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary today. It was on this
day in 1897 that Netaji was born in Cuttack, Odisha. The day is
celebrated as Parakram Diwas. President Droupadi Murmu paid
homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on the occasion of Parakram
Diwas. Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Netaji Subhas
Chandra Bose in the Central Hall of Parliament. Lok Sabha Speaker
Om Birla and other dignitaries also paid tributes to Netaji. PM Modi
said that he is deeply influenced by the thoughts of Netaji Subhas
Chandra Bose and working to realise his vision for the nation. Paying
tribute to Netaji, Mr Modi recalled his unparalleled contribution to
India’s history.
     Prime Minister Narendra Modi named the 21 largest unnamed
islands of Andaman & Nicobar after Param Vir Chakra awardees
today virtually. Addressing the event at Port Blair virtually, he
congratulated the citizens on the occasion of Parakram Diwas. Mr.
Modi also unveiled the model of the National Memorial dedicated to
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to be built on Netaji Subhas Chandra
Bose Dweep, earlier known as Ross Islands. The largest unnamed
island was named after the first Param Vir Chakra awardee, Major
Somnath Sharma, who was martyred in action on November 3, 1947
while repulsing Pakistani infiltrators near Srinagar Airport. Home
Minister Amit Shah and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan
were also present at the event.
      President Droupadi Murmu is conferring this year's Pradhan
Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar at a ceremony in New Delhi today.
The awards will be conferred on 11 children for their exceptional
achievement in six categories -- Art, Culture, Bravery, Innovation,
Social Service, and Sports. Each awardee will receive a medal, a
cash prize of one lakh rupees, and a certificate. Prime Minister
Narendra Modi and Women and Child Development Minister Smriti
Zubin Irani will interact with the awardees tomorrow.

     Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested making the police
forces more sensitive and training them in emerging technologies.
Mr Modi emphasised on the importance of National Data Governance
Framework for smoothening of data exchange across agencies. PM
Modi stated this while attending the last two day of the three days
57th All-India Conference of DGPs and IGPs in New Delhi on
Saturday and Sunday. He recommended repealing obsolete criminal
laws and building standards for police organisations across
states. Mr. Modi also suggested prison reforms to improve jail
management. The Conference was concluded after the Prime
Minister Modi distributed Police Medals for Distinguished Services.
The three-day Conference covered various aspects of policing and
national security, including Counter Terrorism, Counter Insurgency
and Cyber Security.
     Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Chowna Mein
inaugurated the general public congregation during the Tai Ethnic
Cultural Festival of all Tai communities of North East India at
Kakopother, Assam on Sunday. Addressing the festival, Mein
highlighted the history of the Tai community of the Northeastern
region. He congratulated the people of Assam for the nomination of
Charaideo’s royal burial mounds called “Moidam” of the Ahom
dynasty as a UNESCO World Heritage Site tag by Govt of India. He
also commended Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for
successfully pursuing the same.
      India crashed out of the FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup after
losing 4-5 via penalty shootout to lower-ranked New Zealand
following a 3-3 stalemate after the regulation time in a crossover
match on Sunday. Leading twice by two goals -- 2-0 first and then
3-1, the Indian defence failed to withstand the pressure exerted by
New Zealand who beat India at their game to come back and end
the 60 minutes at 3-3. The penalty shootout also ended 3-3, and the
game entered sudden death, as the crowd slowly moved to the edge
of their seats and waited with bated breath.

      The 56-Artillery Brigade of Indian Army stationed at Sigar
Military Station, Mebo in East Siang district conducted a display of
weapons like heavy weapons such as ULH, BOFORCE, LFG with
Mortar, Missile, assault rifle of different capacities and light machine
guns used by the arms forces at Pasighat IRBN headquarter on
Monday. Pasighat East MLA Kaling Moyong along with Councillors of
Pasighat Urban Body and military officers including Brig Manish
Kumar participated in the programme.
