Place some vegetables (real or plastic) in a bag (e.g. pillow slip). Ask
students to feel inside the bag and guess which vegetables are there. As
a variation, blindfold students and place a vegetable in their hands. Ask
them to guess what the vegetable is by feeling, smelling and even tasting
it (if they are real).
Explain students that today they are going to talk about healthy eating.
Ask;
Point to each food group, starting with the grains group and discuss it.
For example, say,
- “Look at the orange section of the plate; this is the grains group.
Can you say, ‘grain’? Do you know what foods you would find in
this group?”
Tell students that today they are going learn about MyPlate and talk
about healthy eating.

the rules for the healthy plate at home or not.
