The Pag-asa Elementary School in Bataan, Philippines implemented "Project ALAB" as part of the Brigada Eskwela 2022 initiative to improve reading skills. On August 11, 2022, kindergarten through third grade students participated in reading activities led by teachers. Teachers discussed reading assessments and letter sounds, told stories, and used singing to motivate students. Reading kits were provided to continue learning at home. The day was fruitful for improving student reading abilities.

NARRATIVE REPORT

Brigada Eskwela 2022“ Project ALAB”- “ Ang Lahat Ay Babasa”

To make every learner a proficient and independent reader, schools across the region
are tasks to capacitate learner to develop their reading skills.

Brigada Pagbasa is an after school reading remediation program in response to Bawat


Bata Bumabasa (3Bs Initiatives). To support the Deped Brigada Pagbasa, Pagasa Elementary
School implemented “Project ALAB”- “Ang Lahat Ay Bumabasa”.

On August 11, 2022, Project ALAB of Brigada Eskwela 2022 commenced at exactly
9 o’clock in the morning and participated by pupils from kinder to grade 3 of Pagasa
Elementary School. It started with a prayer and followed by our Nation Anthem through
Audio-Visual Presentation.

After the preliminaries, Mrs. Crezelen P. Dela Cruz, School Filipino Coordinator and
Miss Mauie M. Panlaque, English Coordinator lead the School project.They also invited a
Voluntary Reading Teachers, Miss Amerlyn P. Calangit and Miss Mary Joy T. Barba.
Mrs. Dela Cruz, explain the objectives of the project. She also discussed the different
assessment of reading.
Miss Amerlyn P. Calangit, discussed the different sound of letters. In addition, she
tells stories to the learners participants.
Miss Mary Joy T. Barba, used the singing technique to motivate learners in reading.
She also read stories to the learners participants.
The day was so fruitful to all specially to the learners participants. To continue the
learning in reading, Pag-asa teachers provided reading kits for the learners.
