Fire Resistance Based On SNI 03-1736-2000

There are three types of fire resistance construction: Type A, whose structural elements are fire resistant and can withstand loads and fires; Type B, whose elements prevent fire spread within the building and from outside; and Type C, whose components are combustible and not intended to resist fire structurally. Type A construction is most fire resistant and Type C is least. The minimum required construction type depends on the building class and number of floors, with taller and higher class buildings requiring more fire resistant Types A and B.

5.2. Fire Resistance construction type.

Associated with its resistance to fire, there are 3 (three) types of construction, that is:

5.2.1. Type A:

Construction whose constituent structural forming are fire resistant and able to withstand
structurally against the load of the building. In this construction there are separate components
forming compartments to prevent the spread of fire to and from adjoining rooms and walls that are
able to prevent the spread of heat to the walls of adjoining buildings.

5.2.2. Type B:

Construction whose structural elements that make up the fire containment compartment is able to
prevent the spread of fire to adjoining rooms inside the building, and the outer walls are able to
prevent the spread of fire from outside the building.

5.2.3. Type C:

Construction whose have building structural components are of combustible materials and are not
intended to be structurally capable of fire resist.

5.3. Type of construction required.

5.3.1. At a minimum, the type of fire-resistant construction of a building must comply within
table 5.3.1. and point 5.5, except:

a). 2nd or 3rd class of the building in point 5.8.

b). 4th class of the building parts in point 5.9.

c). open stage and indoor sports stadiums in point 5.10 and light construction in point 5.11.

5.3.2. Of the types of construction, Type A construction is the most fire resistant and Type C the
least fire resistant.
