BES 121 CHILDHOOD AND GROWING UP


1. Discuss any four contemporary issues that affect adolescence. As a teacher, how would
you deal with such issues?
2. Discuss the growing up experiences of children in adverse situations. How should a
teacher deal with such children?
3. Identify a child with a behavioural problem in your class. Prepare a case study on the
child and suggest measures for rectifying such behavioural issues.
BES 122 CONTEMPORARY INDIA AND EDUCATION
1. Critically analyze the factors leading to implementation of Educational Policies.
2. Explain with examples the individual, social and national aims of education. In the
context of Globalization, how the aims of education are changing? Explain.
3. Analyze the concerns of National Curriculum Framework (NCF, 2005) in different
scholastic subject areas at the Secondary Education
BES 123 LEARNING AND TEACHING
1. What is aptitude? How does it differ from attitude? Discuss various components of
Aptitude with suitable examples.
2. What is meant by transfer of learning? Discuss its various types and its implications
for teaching learning process.
3. What do you mean by Action research? Identify a problem and develop an action-
research proposal.
BES 124 LANGUAGE ACROSS THE CURRICULUM
1. How does classroom interaction lead to language learning? Discuss the different
types of classroom interactions.
2. Language is the foundation of learning.’ Elaborate this statement with examples of
strategies, you would use to facilitate language learning specific to the discipline
you teach.
3. What is the difference between self-assessment and peer assessment? Develop a
rubric for self-assessment of written tasks in the subject you teach at the secondary
level.
BES 125 UNDERSTANDING DISCIPLINES AND SUBJECTS
1. Explain the characteristics and features of a discipline. Discuss different forms of
discipline with suitable illustrations.
2. Critically analyze the strategies for including specific areas of knowledge in school
curriculum with special reference to Art and Craft Education, Work Education and
Peace Education.
3. Critically analyze the factors determining learners’ choices of streams and subjects.
BES 141 PEDAGOGY OF SCIENCE
1. Discuss recent trends in science curriculum at secondary level. Support your
answer with suitable examples.
2. How will you identify and frame assessment indicators in science? Explain with
the help of an example of an assessment tool for science at the secondary level.
3. Select a topic of your choice from secondary level science textbook and develop a
detailed lesson plan based on 5-E approach.
BES 142 PEDAGOGY OF SOCIAL SCIENCE
1. Explain the meaning and need of conducting action research in Social Sciences?
Describe the steps of conducting action research with an example from Social
Sciences at the secondary level.
2. What are the objectives of teaching Political Science at the secondary level?
Describe, with examples, the methods you will use to teach political science
contents to achieve the same objectives.
3. Suppose you are requested by the principal of your school to prepare a question
paper in Social Sciences at the secondary level for the forthcoming Annual
Examination. Describe the steps, which you would follow, while preparing the
same question paper.
BES 143 PEDAGOGY OF MATHEMATICS
1. What is problem solving skill in mathematics? Discuss the steps involved in the
process of problem solving in dealing with mathematical problems.
2. What are the various tools and techniques of assessment of learning mathematics?
Discuss any three tools for assessment in mathematics with the help of examples.
3. What do you understand use of concept mapping in unit planning? Select a unit
from secondary level mathematics and develop a unit plan through concept
mapping on selected unit.
BES 144 PEDAGOGY OF ENGLISH
1. Are the strategies used by learners actively engaged in the construction of
knowledge? As a teacher how will you support these strategies?
2. Discuss the ways in which the teacher can create a natural learning environment for
development of writing skills. Give examples to substantiate your answer.
3. What is the difference between pre-listening, while -listening and post-listening
activities? Set up one activity to test each of these stages.
