1. Scope
This method statement is applicable for offloading of Diesel Generators
employing the approved materials. This method statement also focuses
within site materials inspection, Installation of Diesel Generator to ensure
that it is installed, inspected for the works accordance with project
requirements.
2. Purpose
This method statement describes the details of activities involved for the
Offloading of Diesel Generator & accessories in main building & service
block.

5. Responsibilities
▪ Project Manager
➢ Compliance to this method statement
➢ Compliance with the project through inspection & check.
➢ Ensuring all necessary safety measures to all personal and property
involved
➢ Ensuring only approved materials are incorporated in the works
➢ Ensure the method statement activity and sequences are followed as
per schedule, specification and drawings.

to his construction team.
➢ Ensure and monitor that the work progress is accordance with the
required program and report the same to Project manager.

➢ Coordinate with Site supervisor for the tests to be carried out and
initiate for the inspection of finished works.
➢ Ensure that an efficient daily progress has been obtained from all
the equipment and man power engaged in the work and check the
same against the daily report received from the foreman.
➢ Pass all the revised information to the foreman and ensure that its
being carried out properly.
➢ Coordinate with the surveyor and plan the survey works in advance
as per the work sequence.
➢ Report any non-conformity to the project manager.
➢ Arrange the resources (skilled labors, materials and machineries)
adequate for quantity of works.
➢ Arrange or coordinate the testing of materials used.
➢ Distribute the responsibilities to his subordinates and sub-
contractors.
➢ Coordinate with Project Engineer, Safety for proper execution of
work in a safe environment.
➢ Make weekly and daily program for execution of work and distribute
to his subordinates.
➢ Ensure that his team is using the latest approved drawings, materials
etc.
➢ Ensure the work is executed as per approved MS
▪ HSE Engineer
➢ Ensure the implementation of all safety measures in accordance with
the HSE plan and everybody aware of it for its proper
implementation.
➢ Ensure all the implemented safety measures are adequate to
maintain the safe working on site.
➢ Inspect all the site activities and train the persons to prevent
accidents and its proper reporting to the project manager and client/
Authorities.
➢ Ensure that the site is maintained clean and tidy.

➢ Carrying out the work and proper distribution of all the available
resources in coordination with the site engineer on daily basis.
➢ Daily reports of the works achieved and coordinate for the future
planning with the site engineer.
➢ Incorporate all the QAQC and safety requirements as requested
by the concerned engineers and department.
➢ Met with any type of unforeseen incidents or requirements and
reporting to the project manager / HSE immediately.
➢ Proper housekeeping to be done on daily basis to make sure the
site is maintained clean and tidy
6. SITE PLANNING AND PREPARATION
▪ All relevant activities shall be carried out in accordance to
the approved project specifications.
▪ The Preliminary Activities / Approvals
➢ Submit for approval material submittals, method statement, risk
assessment etc.
➢ Submit Method Statement, Risk Assessment and inspection & test
Plan to the engineer for approval.
➢ Identify quantify and ensure all risk are managed in this Method
Statement and residual risks are acceptable refer Risk Assessment
attached.
➢ Ensure proper coordination with all interfacing contractors for
access/ completion of previous activities before starting all activities
at site
➢ Pre-Construction Activities:
➢ Ensure all required documents (SD, MSS, RA, and ITP etc.) have been
approved prior to start of activity.
➢ All the risks and hazards involved in the activities has been identified
and assessed in the risk assessment.
➢ Refer to Attached Risk Assessment.
➢ The activity shall commence as per agreed construction Programme.
➢ Ensure proper access and egress has been maintained throughout
the progress.
▪ Construction Details
➢ All Generator materials received at site shall be inspected, handled
and stored properly upon receipt in accordance with manufactures
recommendations.
➢ Generator Materials will be offloaded by forklift/Crain according to
the material weight and manufacturer instruction with required
safety procedure
➢ All time deliveries and all items shall be inspected by the main
contractor/consultant /client.
➢ The delivered Generator materials shall be inspected for the rating
required, type, dimensions, accessories etc. as per drawing and for
distortion, bending, damages, etc.
➢ Upon verifying the received materials in compliance with approved
material submittal, material inspection request (MIR) shall be raised
to main contractor / consultant for review and approval.
➢ All Generator installation / construction / testing works shall be
carried out in compliance with project specification, approved shop
drawings, method statement, local and international standards,
manufacture recommendation, client safety manual.
➢ Generator Installation will be in accordance with approved drawing.
➢ All the Generator material and work will be carried out as per the
project’s specifications
➢ Operations team shall coordinate with civil team prior to work
➢ Level / location marking shall be provided by surveyor as per the
approved shop drawing / Builders work drawing
➢ Required opening / Access route shall be provided from civil to install
the services / equipment
7. WORK METHODOLOGY & SEQUENCE OF WORK
▪ Installation Procedure
➢ Preparation of Genset Civil foundation as per foundation calculation
by Customer (Civil scope is not in ESI scope of work).
▪ Unloading Method
➢ Keep personal safety in mind and follow all company procedures
before unloading the goods. People on ground should be away from
the unloading zone / all side of the truck to avoid accidents. It is the
duty and sole responsibility of the off loader to make sure that no
person is on the trailer bed at the time of off-loading Generator set.
➢ A customer representative must be in attendance when material is
delivered to make sure that the material received matches that
ordered, and to acknowledge its receipt on the delivery note. The
customer shall be responsible for any damage resulting from failure
to comply with the provisions herein.
➢ Be sure that the trailer is parked on a flat surface before off-loading.
All DG set materials shall be inspected to the conformity of client’s
requirements before being unloaded. Besides, any non – conformity
shall be reported on the delivery receipt to inform factory’s /
supplier’s customer service department.
➢ Crain/forklift can be used for unloading the Generator materials
according to manufacturer recommendations and safety
requirements.
➢ Materials should be off load slowly and gently and never dropped on
the ground to avoid damage.
➢ The delivered DG Set/name plate shall be inspected for the rating
required, type as per the approved material submittal
➢ Please refer the below photo for recommended lifting belt
attachments to the generator for lifting the generator from the
trailer and to place it on the skidding platform/ground. Only lifting
lugs to be used for connecting the belts for lifting purpose
8. QUALITY CONTROL
➢ Site Management and QAQC personnel should monitor the work to
ensure it is done as per approved method statement.
➢ Site Supervision personnel must ensure that the work fully complies
with the norms laid down as per specification in all respects.
➢ Inspections requests will be raised to the Engineer for Engineers
➢ inspection and approval as per approved Inspection and testing Plan.

➢ All the safe practices will be adopted during offloading od diesel
generator.
➢ Wherever the special work permit is required will be taken before
commencing that particular work.
➢ The communication for site emergencies shall be in accordance with
the communication protocol given in the project Emergency Plan.
➢ Proper access for the labor and equipment’s will be provided to the
working area.
➢ All the machinery will be checked for its maintenance record.
➢ Site will be cleaned as work finishes.
13. PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
All workers will be issued and trained in use of the required PPE equipment
to comply with contract procedures and local regulations. Such as Safety
Harness. Safety Helmet, Hand glows, Safety shoes, Reflective vest, goggles
etc.
