Platforms used in Online Distance Learning (except the examples from the book)
• Chegg - Chegg allows students to find a tutor who can solve their questions and
provides free chegg answers instantly - whether it is a test question or homework.
Students are given these tests to enhance their problem-solving skills and make them
better at the subject.
• Canva - Canva is an online graphic design tool pre-loaded with thousands of templates
to spark your creativity. It is 100% free for K-12 (primary and secondary) teachers and
their students, powering creation and collaboration in every classroom.
• Capcut - CapCut offers easy-to-use video editing functions, free in-app fonts and
effects, free advanced features such as keyframe animation, smooth slow-motion,
chroma key, and stabilization, to help you capture and snip moments.
• Google Translate - Google Translate is an online translating tool, which translates text
from one language to the other instantly for a user.
• Grammarly - Grammarly is a tool which enables a user to proofread and edit
documents for grammar and spelling online.
• Khan Academy - Khan Academy is a personalized learning resource for all ages
tackling math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and
more. Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized
learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of
the classroom
• LearnUpon - LearnUpon is another great cloud-based option intended for educational
purposes, corporate training, customer education, and partner training.
• Mathway - Mathway is a problem-solving app designed to not only solve math
equations but to also explain the steps required to arrive at the correct answer.
• MS Teams - Microsoft Teams is a persistent chat-based collaboration platform
complete with document sharing, online meetings, and many more extremely useful
features for business communications.
• SlideShare - Slideshare is a website which allows you to post content - PDFs,
PowerPoint slides, videos, and others - as a presentation.
• StudySmarter – StudySmarter is a digital platform that simplifies studies. It offers
detailed statistics on learning time, progress and what students need to learn for the
upcoming exams.
• Quillbot - Quillbot is a powerful AI-powered writing assistant that uses machine
learning to provide instant feedback on writing.
• Quilgo - Quilgo is a web tool and Google add-on that allows to time quizzes created
on Google Forms. It enables clock countdown tracking, camera recording and cheating
prevention tools for Google Forms.

• Quizziz - Quizizz is a 'gamified student engagement platform' that allows to create,
edit, and share fun and interactive quizzes and lessons.
• Quizlet - Quizlet is a free website providing learning tools for students, including
flashcards, study and game modes.
Social Networking Platforms (except the examples from the book)
• Band – Band is a social network that focuses on group communication. Users can create
their own space for communication with others for a specific purpose.
• Discord - Discord is a free communications app that lets users share voice, video, and
text chat with friends, game communities, and developers.
• Friendster - Friendster was a social networking service that allow users to set up user
profiles, connect with other people, and communicate with them.
• Kumu - Kumu is a Filipino community live stream platform where users can just hang
out, explore the many livestreams the Kumunity has to offer, meet and chat with fellow
Filipinos all around the world.
• Litmatch - Litmatch is a safe and warm community to share honest thoughts and
feelings. People here can experience emotional communication comfortably through
different online interactive features.
• MySpace - Myspace is a free, advertising-supported service that allows users to create
Web “profile” pages that feature photographs, express their interests, and, most
importantly, link to other people's profiles.
• Omegle - Omegle is a website which is specifically designed to allow users to talk to
strangers. It works by randomly matching users to talk one-to-one using either text or
video.
• Quora - Quora is one of the largest social networks for people to ask and answer
questions about hundreds of topics and categories.
• Reddit - Reddit is a social media site where users become part of subreddits and engage
with other users on relevant topics. It is also somewhat of a news aggregator site since
users share the latest news from different sources on the site.
• Skyrock - Skyrock is a social networking site, where users can create profiles and blogs
and interact with other members. Music, sports, and film blogs are the most popular on
this platform.
• Tiktok - TikTok is a social media platform for creating, sharing and discovering short
videos. The app is used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through
singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing, and allows users to create videos and share
them across a community.
• Tumblr - Tumblr is a blogging and social media tool that allows users to publish a
"tumblelog", or short blog posts.
• Vero - Vero is a social media site where users can share their favorite things with the
community. They can share songs, photos, books, and movies. The platform markets
itself as a social network that cares about building real connections between users and
doesn’t use data mining and algorithms.
• WeChat - WeChat is a multi-purpose social media, messaging and payment app
developed in China that provides hold-to-talk voice messaging, broadcast (one-to-
many) messaging, video conferencing, video games, sharing of photographs and videos
and location sharing.
• Yubo - Yubo is a newer social networking platform that has the lofty goal of
reinventing online friendships by creating a safe environment for everyone online.

In one paragraph, can you think of possibilities on how you can use social networking sites as
educational tools? Describe clearly how you can appropriately utilize it.
We can minimize our usage of social networking sites to be beneficial in our education.
It can serve as a tool where we can learn or share our knowledge with other people. For
instance, I can use Tiktok or Youtube to learn about a certain thing since there are lots of
content creators who share in-depth knowledge regarding both academic and practical aspects.
Through watching videos, I can obtain knowledge that I need to know. I can appropriately
utilize it if I apply and comprehend what I learned instead of just scanning it. We need to view
social networking sites as a helpful tool, not as a distraction.
