Not yet ma’am

If that so class, this day I will bring you to a virtual

museum through our discussion. But remember that in
entering every museum, there were rules to follow.
The first rule is to listen if someone is speaking. Second,
raise your hand if you want to speak. Lastly, if I raise this
picture

you will zip your mouth and be quiet.

Yes Maam!
Can I expect these from you, class?

Very Good! Now I know that you are all ready to enter the
museum.
A. REVIEW
Imagine class that we are inside the museum, now, what Ma’am there were paintings,
artforms have you noticed? sculptures, books.

Precisely! There were different paintings, sculptured books

and different kinds of artworks. But before we can
proceed, there were some questions first that we need to
answer as we review our previous lesson about the
Yes Ma’am!
neoclassical period.
Are you ready?
Yes Maam!
All you have to do is to shout “yey! yey! yey!” if the
statement is correct and “uh oh!” if it is not.
Did you understand children?
Uh oh!
Let’s have the first question.
1. There are two (2) types of Neoclassical Ma’am because there were 3 types
Architecture of neoclassical Architecture.
Very good, the answer is Uh oh! Or false because? Yes?

Yey! Yey! Yey!

Good Job! How about the second picture.
2. Antonio Canova is a neoclassical sculptor

Very Good! Antonio Canova along with Bertel

Thorvaldsen. Okay number 3.
3. The word neoclassic came from the Latin word Uh oh!
“neo” which means “new” and the Greek word
“classicus” which is similar to the English phrase
“first class”

Indeed! The correct answer is Uh oh! Because neo is a

Greek word and Classicus is a Latin word
Yey! Yey! Yey!
Let’s proceed to the 4th question.
4. Neoclassical Painting uses diagonals to show the
peak of an emotion or moment.

Precisely! Because just like the painting The death of

Marat by Jacques Louis David wherein it clearly shows the Yey! Yey! Yey!
use of diagonals.
And lastly,
5. Neoclassical is also known as the age of
enlightenment.
Very Good! Yey! Yey! Yey! Because neoclassical is the
age where the people wants to be enlightened by many
things.

Based from your responses, it seems that you understood

our topic last meeting. So, Good Job Everyone!

B. MOTIVATION
The pictures were broken
This time class, I have here some pictures, but what
have you noticed?

Very good observation, the pictures are torn/broken

into pieces.
(Students will proceed to their
This time class, we need to fix these broken pictures respective area)
class for us to reveal the pictures. This activity is called
Buoin mo ko beybe! In this activity, you will be
grouped into 2, the group of girls and the group of
boys. Now all the boys should be on this side, while the Yes ma’am
girls on the other side. The first group who will finish
first will have additional points at the end of our lesson.

will have some additional points later on.

Now what do you think does the picture portrays? Ma’am a romantic event wherein a
man expresses his feelings towards
a girl by giving flowers and
chocolates.
Nice observation! What else?
Yes Ma’am!
Very Good! It shows a romantic scene where the boy
expresses his feelings.
Romantic Period Ma’am
Now do you have any idea what would be our lesson for

And at the end of the 1-hour lesson, you will be able to… mood, idea or messages
everybody read from selected artworks.
c. create a scenery painting on
a pot with the integration of
the different techniques used
in Romantic Period.

Ma’am love!
Ma’am emotions!
Ma’am feelings
C. LESSON PROPER Ma’am Expression
So, what comes first in your mind when you hear the word
romantic.

Precisely! Because romanticism class is all about

expressing emotions and feelings through an artwork.
It is a movement in which the artists of Neoclassical period
sought to break new ground in the expression of emotion,
both subtle and stormy.

This means that Romanticism is not just about love, but it

A way to express the reaction to
is an expression of feelings. Feelings of sadness,
the current situation during this
happiness, madness, loneliness and many others.
period.
But how does romantic period begin?
Yes, because French revolution also emerged during this
period wherein a lot of social change happened. The
artists subjects were all about their reaction against the
spread of industrialism, as well as a criticism of the
aristocratic social and political norms and a call for more
attention to nature.

So, if we will compare the paintings of the neoclassical

period to the romantic period, romantic period expresses
more emotions rather than the neoclassical paintings.

Its characteristics includes;

Height of action

Emotional extremes

Celebrated nature as out of control

Dramatic composition

And heightened sensation (between life and death

moments)

This time class we will be having another activity! This

activity is called “Is it me?”
As you can see, there were 5 different images, posted on
the board. And I have here the pictures of the famous
artworks of these romantic artists.

The first picture class is Jean louis Theodore Gericault.

Followed by Eugene Delacroix, Francisco Goya, Theodore
Rousseau and Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot. These people
were the painters of the romantic period.
Yes ma’am
I have here 11 pictures of the famous artworks of these 5
artists and I will give these pictures randomly. Those
students who will be lucky to get a picture will have to put
the picture under the artist whom he/she thought made the
painting. (students will post the pictures
For example, the painting Charging Chasseur was made by under the artist)
Francisco Goya, so you will basically put the picture under
the portrait of Francisco Goya.
Understood?

So here are the paintings.

(the pictures will be given to the students)

Now all the students who received pictures may now post
it on the board.
It portrays the victims of a
contemporary shipwreck.
Now let us unlock and reveal if all the pictures were placed
correctly.
Let’s start from the first artist who is Jean louis Theodore Revealed the influence of the style
Gericault. of Rubens and an interest in the
His famous artworks include, depiction of contemporary subject
The Raft of the Medusa matter.

It is a portrait made of the mentally

disabled that has a peculiar

hypnotic power.

No ma’am
And lastly the Insane Woman

(Student will place the correct

pictures under Gericault)

It is energetic, powerful, brilliant,

colored and tightly composed.

Now, does all the pictures under Gericault correct?

So who wants to place the pictures correctly under

Gericault? Yes! Eugene Delacroix ma’am

Very Good! Now what have you noticed on the paintings

of Gericault?

Let us now proceed to the second picture, who is this again

class?

Very good! Eugene Delacroix.

Delacroix was considered the greatest French Romantic Yes ma’am the painting Liberty

And his famous artwork includes Liberty Leading the Delacroix but there were other
People. paintings under his picture so, the
other picture under his portrait is
incorrect.
Does the painting, correct?

Ma’am the picture depicts liberty

of the people.

Very good observation!

Class, we can see that Delacroix achieved brilliant visual
effects using small, adjacent strokes of contrasting color.
Now what does the picture depicts?

Francisco Goya ma’am

Nice observation! Because this painting class

commemorates the July Revolution of 1830, which toppled
King Charles X of France. A woman holding the flag of
the French Revolution personifies liberty and leads the
people forward over the bodies of the fallen.

Now lets proceed to the third artist. And this artist is?

Sought to commemorate Spanish

He was a commissioned Romantic Painter by the King of during the occupation of 1808 in
Spain. He was also a printmaker regarded both as the last the Peninsular War.
of the “Old Masters” and the first of the “Moderns”

The artworks of Francisco Goya include;

The third of May

overthrown by one of his children,
so he ate each one upon their birth.

This painting was a Spanish

This artwork depicts the Greek myth. Now who is familiar to be reborn, transformed with
with this myth? Anyone? new vigor.

Some of it ma’am

Precisely! Sure ma’am (student placed the

The Burial of Sardine correct picture under Francisco
Goya)

Now do all the pictures correctly placed?

If that so, kindly place the pictures correctly

As you can see class, the paintings left were all landscape
paintings, it is because these two-artist left were landscape
painters of the romantic period.

Landscape painting class become popular due to the

peoples’ romantic adoration of nature.

Now let us proceed to the fourth picture. This is Theodore

Rousseau one of the landscape painters in the Romantic
Period.
His artworks include, Der kleine Fischer

and
Landscape with a Plowman
(Student placed the correct picture
And lastly, this is Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot under Corot)

(Students starts making their

scenery pot)

Her artworks includes,

the church of Marissel, near Beauvais,

and
Le repos sous les saules

Now kindly put the pictures correctly under the artist.
