Case Study: Dr. Quach Mengly Leader and Founder of Mengly J. Quach
Education in Cambodia.

1. Introduction
The present study is based on Dr. Quach Mengly's leadership style and management skills. Dr.
Quach Mengly is the current leader of Mengly J. Quach Education. He is the founder and president
of Mengly J. Quach Education, an organization that deals with multinational people and new
technology. He has been introduced as the person who will best succeed in the education business
in Cambodia. Until today, he had also become famous and inspired most of the Cambodians in
this new era. In this paper, a discussion related to the different aspects of Dr. Quach Mengly's
leadership style that have helped him manage and lead the organization to its best position will be
discussed with supporting evidence.

2. Background of Dr. Quach Mengly


Dr. Quach Mengly was born in Battambang Province, Cambodia on 25 March 1969 but his
family were resettled in the United States in 1984. He was raised and educated in California. He
attended University of California, Berkeley in 1991 for Pre-Med and received his Doctor of
Medicine in General Medicine from Spartan Health Sciences University in 1998. He received his
Masters in Public Health Practice from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in 2007. Dr.
Quach Mengly was a professor at the Cleveland College in California until 2002.
In 2002, Quach returned to Cambodia where he worked as public health advisor of Integrated
Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI) for Partners for Development and taught at the
Pannasastra University of Cambodia and University of Cambodia. In 2005, Quach founded
Mengly J. Quach Education. Its Aii Language Center and American Intercon School, engage in
education, health care, food, media and financial services. By 2022, his educational programs had
grown from a single classroom with just four students into one of Cambodia's biggest educational
networks, with over twenty school buildings, over 17,000 students, more than 1,750 staff and
boasts 50,000 alumni.

3. Which leadership traits and skills exhibited by Dr. Quach Mengly have
contributed to the success?
Dr. Quach Mengly has become a successful entrepreneur due to his ability to deal with difficult
situations. Dr. Quach Mengly has a very innovative mind that he uses very accurately regarding
any business strategic decisions. In the education business, he has invented many unique ideas for
expansion. From the design to the implementation, Dr. Quach Mengly has thought very rationally
and changed the pattern of the business in a futuristic way by adopting innovative ideas.
Furthermore, Dr. Quach Mengly had created some new learning programming for Cambodia's
educational system in order to compete with another education business competitor. Therefore, his
innovative mind always found a rational solution in any circumstance. Additionally, Dr. Qauch
Mengly is very realistic in his attitude. He adopts every single thing after evaluating its cost-benefit
ratio efficiently. Before he decided to return to his home country and launch this education business,
Dr. Qauch Mengly was very serious about this project and also assessed its value in the market to
attract investment. Dr. Qauch Mengly is a kid who grew up in the United States and worked
extremely hard to get to this point in his life. He believes in the regret minimization theory very
strongly because he does not want to lose anything due to rushing in his life. Therefore, he resigned
from his job in the United States to return to his home country and start his own business. He has
a very high educational background that most Cambodians still keep pursuing. As a result, his
entrepreneurial ventures are more confident than others. Also, he has outstanding competitive
skills that helped him understand the pattern of the education business market in Cambodia very
comprehensively.

4. Summing up Dr. Qauch Mengly's Management Skills and Seadership


Style
Dr. Quach Mengly is considered to be the most efficient and successful leader in Cambodia
today. He has reached this summit of success with the help of an extraordinary Dr. Kouch Mengly
leadership style and people management efficiencies. Being the founder and leader of Mengly J.
Quach Education, he has set an example for the whole of Cambodia to showcase how to be a
successful leader. Mengly J. Quach Education was founded in 2005, when the primary idea of the
company was just a small international school in the town. However, the company is growing from
year to year, and as the WIKIPEDIA mentioned, by 2022, his educational programs would have
grown from a single classroom with just four students into one of Cambodia's biggest educational
networks, with over twenty school buildings, over 17,000 students, more than 1,750 staff, and
50,000 alumni. This is how the journey of Mengly J. Quach Education started, based on his
predefined strategies. Dr. Quach Mengly's leadership style is considered to be the main factor in
making the organization successful in every way. He taught everyone to be self-assured and to
believe in themselves, and he gave everyone a chance.
Dr. Quach Mengly has been practicing transformational leadership primarily and working on
self-management, effective communication, strategic planning, taking responsibility, and setting
predefined and time-bound goals so that he could efficiently manage his people as well as himself
in leading the organization successfully. For example, when the company faces a problem, Dr.
Quach Mengly believes in his leadership style and can push the company forward.
Dr. Quach Mengly's leadership style also incorporates a transactional leadership approach,
which has helped him achieve better people management. Along with this, according to the needs
of the organization and the situation, Dr. Quach Mengly has tried several leadership skills to
manage the workforce and process of work efficiently, along with maintaining the organizational
culture. For instance, Dr. Quach Mengly takes a transactional leadership approach, and he
promotes the strict rules to the employees by giving them both punishments and rewards. Dr.
Guach Mengly takes this approach to gain a higher level of success within Mengly J. Quach
Education. Dr. Quach Mengly's leadership style has efficiently succeeded in managing change
within the organization, and this has provided him with several advantages that make the
organization fit for getting competitive advantages from the market. For example, the performance
of Mengly J. Quach Education in these days has pushed the business' image throughout the country.

5. List the Main Obstacles Encountered and Evaluate How to Overcame


Leading and managing people is considered one of the most challenging parts of any leadership
style. It is needed to establish the proper mission and vision of the organization. The next step is
considered to be very challenging, as it is important to convey the same idea and sense of the
organization and the future goals of the organization to the employees working in the company.
Dr. Quach Mengly has efficiently dealt with all the challenges he has faced in his journey to
establish Mengly J. Quach Education as the best organization to work for his employees and for
students to choose to study at his institute. The most difficult aspect is managing people within the
organization and convincing them of its true mission and vision.
The firm faced a big hurdle when more than 50% of the students who took the high school
exam this year failed it, as a result of a significant change in education policy and strategy that the
Cambodian Ministry of Education undertook in 2014. Many pupils choose to switch schools as a
result of parents' growing doubts and complaints to the school about the teachers' inability to
instruct their children. The school is in decline this year as a result of the loss of numerous students
and clients. Due to a lack of job and compensation, staff members and teachers are also beginning
to shift to another business.
In response to this problem, Dr. Qauch Mengly is beginning to invite the parents of the students
who are convinced that their children may pass this exam but whose results indicate failure to ask
the ministry of education to recheck the test paper. Additionally, the high school exam is repeated
that same year. Dr. Quach Mengly is beginning to develop teacher skills and methods of instruction
using modern technology before the second exam. The results of the second exam were
unexpectedly positive, with the majority of students from this campus who took the exam passing
and receiving high marks. Additionally, the teachers and staff that were willing to move during
the hard time were also convinced to stay by Dr. Quach Mengly.

6. Gaining Knowledge of Dr. Quach Mengly's Management and Leadership


Methods
According to the aforementioned segments, Dr. Quach Mengly possesses a broad range of
skills and aptitudes, as well as leadership qualities that contribute to his success. The following is
a list of the management techniques and Dr. Quach Mengly's leadership style that I picked up over
those years.
I had figured out how to control and effectively handle the challenge. The movements are
robust and assured when facing a challenging circumstance like the one previously mentioned. He
was quite adept at handling unforeseen circumstances and bringing them under control. This
displays his rounded and reliable leadership and management skills. He may make the detrimental
effect work in the company's favor. This shows his leadership to his team as well.
7. Conclusion
The organization has achieved the greatest competitive advantages under Dr. Quach Mengly's
leadership, developing into one of the best businesses in Cambodia. His leadership style is
regarded as both transactional and transformative. Dr. Quach Mengly is regarded as the best
transformational leader in the world because of how he altered the concept of leadership and
achieved outcomes by making his organization the best of the decade. To manage people well, one
must possess all the necessary traits as well as be extremely knowledgeable. This is why Dr. Quach
Mengly used a variety of leadership philosophies to build a productive workforce capable of
overcoming any problems by adapting to the circumstances and organizational process.
