Lesson Plan For Demo 3

The lesson plan discusses a reading passage about the emerging trend of women proposing to men. It aims to analyze the social, moral, and economic issues presented in the passage. Students will identify three social issues, explain implications of women proposing in terms of these issues, and analyze biases discussed. The teacher reviews common biases, shows videos depicting different proposal scenarios, and discusses values that should be preserved despite changing times. Students then listen to and discuss the passage, which explores how the trend challenges traditional gender roles and norms, as well as cultural and economic aspects of marriage proposals.

practicing new skills “Women Proposing To Men Is Still Rare — But It Doesn’t Have To Be A New
Trend”
no.2 Podcast Episode
(Integration to ESP) The act of proposing marriage has long been regarded as a man's duty.
However, in recent times, there has been a growing trend of women
proposing to men. While this practice may challenge traditional gender
roles and norms, it does not necessarily mean that it is wrong or
unacceptable. In fact, it could be a way for women to take control of their
lives and relationships.

One issue that arises from this trend is the concept of commitment.
Marriage is a significant commitment that requires mutual trust and
understanding. Some argue that a man should be the one to propose
because it demonstrates his commitment to the relationship. However,
women proposing could also be seen as a sign of their commitment to their
partners. It shows that they are willing to take on the responsibility of
initiating such a significant step in their relationship.

Moreover, this trend challenges cultural norms and beliefs surrounding

marriage. In many cultures, marriage is viewed as a sacred institution, and
the proposal is seen as a symbolic gesture of a man's love and dedication
to his partner. Though, cultures evolve and change, and so do their
traditions. Women proposing to men could be seen as a positive shift
towards gender equality and empowerment.

In terms of economics, this trend could potentially have a significant

impact on the wedding industry. Traditionally, men have been the ones to
buy engagement rings and plan elaborate proposals. However, with
women taking on this role, it could lead to a shift in the marketing and
advertising strategies of the wedding industry. This could also lead to the
creation of more diverse and inclusive products and services that cater to
both men and women.

In conclusion, while women proposing to men may still be a rare

occurrence, it is an emerging trend that challenges social, moral, and
economic issues. As society continues to evolve, it is important to
recognize and embrace changes in cultural norms and beliefs. Ultimately,
the decision to propose should be based on mutual love, respect, and
commitment, regardless of gender roles and expectations.

1. Do you agree with the article? Why or why not?

2. Do you think it is already time that women will propose for
marriage? Why or why not?
3. Does the author agree or disagree with the idea of women can
proposed to men? Why did you say so?
