on the World Christian Movement. This training was started years ago by Ralph Winter and the U.S. Center for World Mission. Through readings and a variety of speakers, participants learn about Gods global purpose through four vantage points or perspectives: biblical, historical, cultural, and strategic. One of the articles that I read as a part of this training was written by John Stott. He explains the biblical foundation for missions beginning with the call of Abraham in Genesis. He states that the whole of Gods purpose is encapsulated in these verses and especially in the phrase, by you all the families of the earth shall be blessed (Gen. 12:3). Stott says this expression reveals the living God of the Bible to be a missionary God....
We need to become global Christians with a global vision, for we have a global God. As I participated in the Perspectives training, I thought often about the mission field of Dallas and Rockwall counties. People from all over the world have come to our city. More than ever before, we have an opportunity to reach people from many different people groups. Stott closed his article with this challenge, So may God help us never to forget his fourthousand-year-old promise to Abraham: By you and your descendants all the nations of the earth shall be blessed.

CHURCH CONTINUES DESPITE PASTORS PASSING
The story of Primera Iglesia Bautista de Carrollton is an inspiration for many of us. Their pastor passed away at the beginning of this year, and even in the midst of their loss they continue to follow Gods leadership. The church worship services are well attended, and ministries are continuing. The

Student ministers should make plans now to bring their youth groups to DBAs student rally at the annual celebration, 5:00 p.m. October 16 at Park Cities Baptist Church. The free rally features speaker Gabe Salazar and worship leader Neil Greenhaw. Free pizza is provided. Salazar and Greenhaw are the camp personalities for Student Camp at the Mount 2012. church is reaching out to people living in nearby apartments. The response has been very positive and God is opening a door for them to reach their community with the Gospel of Jesus. Recently the church held a youth revival for the first time. They invited other churches and young people from the neighborhood. They
were so blessed by what happened during this gathering that they are planning to have another event like this soon. As the church continues praying for a pastor, they believe that God is active, doing His work in and through them for His glory.
A recent youth-led revivial at Primera Iglesia Bautista de Carrollton attracted dozens of teenagers from the community.

PASTORAL RETREATS SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER, OCTOBER
Bobby Martin, leadership development
Spiritual growth and intimacy with God are keys to meaningful ministry. Every minister knows that. However, these keys are sometimes neglected because of the incredible time demands of ministry, the intensity of church work, and administrative tasks. DBA seeks to provide the needed time for ministers to experience fellowship and intimacy with God through pastoral retreats. This fall, two separate but closely-
aligned opportunities are available for pastors and church staff. On September 15, a Sabbath experience will be led by Milfred Minatrea. This is a one day retreat from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Mt. Lebanon. The sabbath emphasizes learning, debriefing and time with God. The cost is $10.00 for lunch. A 3-day, 2-night Longing for His Presence retreat is October 2-4 at Mt. Lebanon. This retreat emphasizes spiritual formation and practicing the disciplines
learned. Time is spent gaining knowledge about spiritual formation; however, the majority of the time is spent with God in prayer. The cost is $100 for DBA leaders, which includes materials, hotel lodging, and all meals Both retreats require pre-registration. Sign-up, attend, and grow stronger in the Lord. For more information about both events, visit www.dba.net/leadershipdevelopment.
DBA CITYSERVE COLLABORATES WITH MEET THE NEED
DBAs CityServe is now collaborating with Meet the Need to provide our churches with descriptions and contact information for hundreds of service opportunities in our
WEEKDAY EDUCATION CONNECTION TRAINING TEAM
Thank you for letting me know about CityServe. My daughter was looking for a place to volunteer this summer and was able to not only find a location, but find one close to home. CityServe is a great resource (Maria Saavedra, member, Kessler Park Baptist Church). A team of experienced educators is ready to provide on-site training for your churchs preschool, mothers day out or childcare ministry. DBAs weekday education training team will schedule training at your church at a time convenient to you. The cost is $5 per person. Workshop topics include preschool literacy, dramatic play, positive guidance, circle times, and developing lesson plans. Trainers Sandra Carouth, Mimosa Lane Baptist Church; Julie Tomko, First Baptist Church, Rowlett; Suzanne DeVine, First Baptist Church, Farmers Branch; and Terri Spencer, Mimosa Lane Baptist Church, can be contacted directly to schedule your workshop. Visit www.dba.net/childcare for more information and a complete list of workshops or call 214-319-1166.
mission field of Dallas and Rockwall counties. Visit the all-new site, www.dba.net/cityserve, to view detailed information about service projects within an amazon.com-like website experience. Local churches can also join the fast-growing Meet the Need network and post their own volunteer needs. Meet the Need enables your
church to provide a window to the outside world, allowing your members to search and adopt a wide variety of needs through your own website. Churches desiring to join Meet the Need can visit www. meettheneed.org.
