COURSE INFORMATION
1. Course Number : THC 5
2. Course Name : Micro Perspective of Tourism and Hospitality
3. Course Description : This course will cover the workings, operations and the integrative activities of major stakeholders in the Tourism and
Hospitality Industry. The student will also gain knowledge on managing and marketing a service-oriented business
organization. Apart from the scope and structure of travel organizations, it provides an in-depth study of the nature and
distinctive characteristics of each sector of the entire tourism industry, focusing on the management, organization and
planning of specific business strategies for the various entities in the local setting.

5. Co-requisite : None
6. Credit : 3.0 units Lecture
7. Class/Lab Schedule : 6 hours per week (1 term)
8. Program Educational Objectives (PEO) of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management:
Five (5) years after graduation, Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management graduates shall:
1. Demonstrate expertise in performing the prescribed range of specific functions of Tourism Management based on the local, national, and international
standards;
2. Demonstrate expertise in acquiring, understanding, and analyzing relevant data to improve service efficiency in Tourism Management; and
3. Engage in entrepreneurial ventures related to the practice of Tourism Management.

18. POLICIES AND GUIDELINES
a. Attendance is counted from the first regular class meeting.
b. A validated student identification card must always be worn by all students while attending classes.
c. Cheating is strictly prohibited. Any form of dishonesty shall be dealt with accordingly. Honesty is always called for.
d. Valid examination permits are necessary for taking the examinations as scheduled.
e. Base-15 grading policy should be observed. Students who obtained failing scores in major exams are recommended to attend the
tutorial class.
